The Good

  • Sells makeup, skincare, beauty tools, and nail polish
  • Foundation Finder
  • Free shipping
  • Returns

While NARS is known for its makeup, they also have a skincare, nail polish, and beauty tool line. This is beneficial to customers who are hoping to build their cosmetic collection within the same brand. A wide variety in product is also helpful who are looking for a "one stop shop" for their makeup and other beauty products.

NARS provides customers with a program called "Foundation Finder" that allows customers to answer a series of questions about their skin type in order to find a foundation that meets their needs. This is helpful if they are new to the company and are unsure what product is best.

NARS offers free Smartpost shipping to all customers in the U.S. excluding Alaska and Hawaii. Customers can pay for shipping if they would like to receive their product before 3-7 business days. It's always nice to be able to save a little extra when ordering online.

There are also free returns on products you purchase online. You must return products within 30 days, and you will receive a refund for your purchase (not including shipping). This is a nice way to keep customers happy and keep coming back to the company.

The Bad

  • No loyalty or rewards programs for customers who aren't makeup artists
  • Have to pay for shipping when returning items

NARS does not offer any sort of rewards or loyalty program to customers who aren't in the makeup industry. Those that are in the industry (makeup artist, nail technician, cosmetologist, photographer, cosmetic student etc.) receive exclusive offers and discounts, get first look at upcoming products, and get invited to events. While this is helpful to those that a part of the industry, the customers who aren't don't receive any sort of reward for being a loyal customer.

If customers aren't satisfied with their purchase, they can send it back to be refunded. But customers have to pay for the shipping costs to send back the item.

The Bottom Line

Overall, we are neutral about NARS. They offer a wide variety in products for nails, face, skincare and beauty tools. They also offer tutorials and assistance to the customers who aren't as confident in finding makeup that is best for them. But they don't offer rewards to the customers who are loyal unless they are professional or are in the industry.
