The Good

  • Quick Download Speeds on Low-Tier Packages
  • Large Service Area

Quick Download Speeds on Low-Tier Packages

With many internet service providers, low-tier packages typically have unreasonably slow download speeds. However, this is not the case with Cable One. Cable One's lowest plan, the Startup package, offers 100 Mbps download speeds and costs $55 per month. This means that Cable One customers have access to moderately quick speeds at an affordable price point.

Large Service Area

Currently, Cable One offers its services in 19 states across the country. In fact, Cable One is the 16th largest cable broadband provider in the U.S. in terms of coverage area, which means that several consumers have access to the company's services. While a lot of their competitors offer services in 50 states, some have far less availability than Cable One.

The Bad

  • Slower Than Average Upload Speeds
  • Data Caps

Slower Than Average Upload Speeds

While Cable One does offer its customers quick download speeds, the company's upload speeds are relatively slow. Cable One's upload speeds range from 3 Mbps to 50 Mbps. If a customer plans on uploading a significant amount of content to the internet, Cable One may not be able to provide enough speed to meet their needs.

  • Starter Plan — 3 Mbps
  • Family Plan — 5 Mbps
  • Streamer Plan — 10 Mbps

Data Caps

Cable One has set data caps that limit how much data a customer can use each month. If a customer goes over their monthly limit, they will incur an overage fee on their bill. The data limits for Cable One's internet packages are as follows:

  • Starter Plan — 300 GB per month
  • Family Plan — 400 GB per month
  • Streamer Plan — 500 GB per month

While these limits are decently high, several other companies in the industry do not impose any data limits on their customers.

The Bottom Line

Cable One offers quick download speeds, low introductory rates, and customers do not have to sign a contract. However, the company has set data caps, slow upload speeds, and are only available in 19 states. We also don't like that the introductory rates are only for three months, this is a very limited time in the industry. Most companies offer lower rates for six months to a year. At this time we recommend checking out other companies to fulfill your internet needs.

Utilizing cable for the benefit of one's family and friends is a beneficial practice. Cable One is very reliable and offers me a comprehensive low-cost plan. I have never had a problem so cannot rate their customer service. I would highly recommend them to anyone moving into their area served.

Excellent! High and stable internet speeds. My speed runs about 50mb. Based on other services I've found offering "high speed" internet in our area of Idaho Falls, ID, no one really compares or offers similarly high speeds as CableOne. Highest speeds I've found over up to 25mb. By way of improvement, CableOne does limit the data usage which is a challenge when family comes to visit and one month's data usage may exceed the limit we currently have resulting in an email saying or rates will need to go up if it happens again. The should be an option for temporary increase from time to time, of course with increased payment for that month instead of permanent increase.

Cable One is great. They gave me great service at a great price. They are quick to fix anything that might get in the way of yor streaming. They came out the next day when my service went out and it was fixed within the hour. Great service technicians.

I previously used Cable One as my internet provider for my web and e-mail needs. They offered pretty good service at a decent price. Their speed was also decent. One thing I found they did particularly well was provide fast response to my customer service questions and concerns.

Sad to see Cable One become one of the worst cable service providers ever. Constantly rising rates ,bad customer service and limited to no choice of different programmed channels and I was a customer for over 10 years. So I called about dangerous cables hanging over my driveway and a cable one maintenance worker came out in the truck and everything then said he didn't have the right tools with him to remove the cables! How do you not have the right tools to remove the cables..isn't that the whole reason you have that job? Then he sat in his truck a few extra minutes doing something,so i asked him what are you doing? He replied he was putting it in the system..I told him it was already in the system that's why he is here! (BAD CUSTOMER SERVICE) That cable is still hanging over my driveway!(would give zero stars if I could)

Their packages and prices have no hidden fees. The internet speed is perfect. And I love that it has a 5G wifi separate so that your phones don’t use too much of the normal WiFi.

Horrible all around. Nightmare from the beginning. Installer left and never said anything after realizing he left i tried to work the WiFi it didn’t work called customer care it was never set up so we did that. Then days after install receive messages saying we are over on data never was i told there was a limit. My $55/month bill has been no less than $125/month

They try to accomodate when there is a problem but as with most cable co's you have to stay on top of latest offering to insure your service level and price structure.

They suck. The internet service they provide is awful. Only works sporadically. Channels change, picture breaks up, oh, did I mention the internet is awful!!!! And Bill goes up. I use cellular data at home because internet won't stay on. I work 2 blocks from home, they have cable one internet, same problem there. But they will say it a problem at your home.

I called to inquire about senior discounts. My mother is in a nursing home and watches TCM most all day. The nursing home gets kick backs for allowing Cable one a monopoly for cable service. I asked about options to lower my $58 a month charge. My bill went up to $78. I again called and complained and asked for help. Now I'm paying $98 a month. I have two sisters but the family is not in a cooperative mood so for the time being I alone pay for mom's one channel. I can't wait to tell Cable One what they can do with their service.

Data caps. Seriously? It's 2017, 4K is thriving and people pay for 4k content on their tv now you want to force them into the max tier to get content they paid for? This is highway robbery. You should be ashamed of yourselves. Especially the President and CEO. Greedy f***. Get with the program or get a class action lawsuit. Remember what Netflix is doing? You're next Cable ONE!

Very very expensive and it constantly goes out in our area. However, due to the great friendly staff I have given it 3 stars versus 1. Right now cable one , which is now using a different name, is our only internet and cable option

Compared to Cox communication it's !/3 the speed needed for streaming I have 100 Gps with both and the difference is like night and day, Cable one just doesn't deliver what the customer wants

Overpriced for what you get. However it’s the only option where we live so we have no choice. Don’t like how they throttle at times.
