How Does Byte Work?

You no longer need to worry about scheduling time out of your busy routine to go to the orthodontist. Byte’s clear aligner treatment can be completed anytime from the comfort of your home. Byte uses clear plastic device technology custom made to fit your teeth. These invisible teeth aligners will gradually move your teeth resulting in a straighter smile.

Getting started with Byte only takes a few minutes. You can first determine if you are a good candidate for invisible braces by taking Byte’s online questionnaire. Keep in mind that Byte works best for those with minor to moderate alignment and bite issues. If you have major alignment issues or need to correct your bite, you may need in-person orthodontic treatment.

The second way Byte ensures that you are an eligible candidate is through an impression kit. After the impression kit is completed and sent back to the lab, you can approve treatment and wait to receive your custom aligner box. Take the Online Questionnaire

The online quiz will ask you a series of questions about your current teeth conditions such as spacing and crowding. The quiz takes less than a minute to complete. You will receive your results by email.

Complete the Impression Kit

Start by mixing the molding putty and placing it into the impression tray to create impressions of your teeth. Repeat this step four times until you have two impressions of the top and two impressions of the bottom. Once you’re finished creating your molds, send the teeth impressions back to Byte in the prepaid shipping box. You’ll also need to take pictures with the smile stretcher to help Byte’s professional team determine if you’re eligible for invisible braces.

Byte teeth aligners are designed to help people who need minor to moderate alignments. If you have crooked teeth, crowded teeth, or simply need a minor bite correction, Byte is an excellent option to get straight teeth.

Approve Your Byte Treatment Plan

A licensed dentist or licensed orthodontist will review your molds and determine the best course of action. The molds are used to generate an interactive 3D model of what your teeth look like and what they will look like after treatment. Byte will then determine if you’re a good candidate for clear aligners.

The Byte team will also look at your pictures to decide on a plan that matches your facial structure. Byte is also the only invisible braces company that evaluates your facial structure to create your smile plan, also known as smile science. Follow Your Aligner Plan

Customers who are approved for treatment will receive their Byte clear aligners a few weeks later. Byte's aligners are made of a BPA-free, highly transparent, medical-grade, polymer film. Byte even boasts that its aligners are high impact, tear-resistant, and 88 percent more stain-resistant than other aligners.

Each aligner set comes with a designated number to indicate the sequence of use. Start with step number one and continue to change out your aligners every week, unless otherwise directed. If you use the HyperByte daily and follow the recommended wear time, you can expect to stay on track with your treatment schedule.

Hold onto all of your past aligners steps just in case you need to return to a previous week.

Wear Your Retainers

Continue to wear your last step until you receive your retainers in the mail. Byte includes a free pair of retainers with the purchase of an aligner kit. Byte recommends that you wear your retainers for 22 hours a day for the first few weeks. Then you can transition to wearing them just during the night.

You can expect to wear your post treatment retainers as long as you want to maintain your straight smile, that means the rest of your life if you want lifetime results. You can purchase additional retainers through the Byte website every six months.

Products and Pricing

All-Day Aligners ($1,895 or $83 per Month + $349 Deposit)

Byte offers its standard all-day aligner packet for those who don’t mind wearing aligners during the day. The All-Day Aligners must be worn for at least 22 hours a day ― only being taken out to brush, floss, or eat. This option provides the shortest treatment time available. Customers who choose the all-day aligners can expect a 3–4 month treatment plan. The HyperByte technology is another key ingredient that makes the short treatment length possible.

The All-Day Aligners cost $1,895 with a single payment. You can also choose to finance the purchase for $83 per month for 29 months (after a $349 deposit).

Byte at Night ($2,295 or $99.56 per Month + $449 Deposit)

Byte now offers a treatment plan in which customers only need to wear their aligners at night. This is a notable and exciting new offering, as many consumers don't love having to wear their aligners throughout the day, including having to take them out and clean them anytime they eat or drink anything besides water.

These at-night aligners are made with a grind resistant polymer material and are slightly thicker than Byte's day-wear aligners. Consumers who go with this Byte-at-Night option will need to wear their nighttime aligners a minimum of 10 continuous hours. This treatment plan also takes 2–3 months longer to complete compared to the all-day aligner plan. If you have a more moderate case of misalignment, you may not qualify for Byte at Night.

The at-night treatment plan is also slightly more expensive, costing a single payment of $2,295, or $99.56 per month for 29 months (after a $449 deposit) if doing a monthly payment plan.

HyperByte Tool (Included in the Aligner Treatment)

The HyperByte device is the company's exclusive dental movement acceleration device. High frequency vibrations or (HFV) uses soft micropulses that transmit through the roots of the teeth to the surrounding bone. According to Byte, this type of therapy can reduce discomfort and will seat the aligners better around the teeth. This will improve aligner traction, create more accurate teeth movement, and decrease treatment length.

Research shows that this type of technology has been proven and used for years by orthodontists selling it to their patients for as much as $900 a piece. Only Byte includes this FDA-cleared technology free for its customers.

Byte Protection Plan ($649 or $779)

Customers who purchase an aligner kit can add a Byte Protection Plan™ to their treatment. This offers additional financial protection in the event that you lose or break an aligner. If you have the protection plan, you will not be charged for a replacement aligner (up to $2,000 in value). You will also receive a new retainer every six months for the next five years. The Byte Protection Plan™ costs $649 for all-day aligners and $779 for at-night aligners.

Retainers (First Pair Free + $129 per Replacement Pair)

Very few invisible aligner providers include the value that Byte does. Byte offers a free pair of retainers to customers. Other invisible braces companies charge up to $99 for a pair of retainers that last only six months.

If you decide to use Byte retainers, you should plan on spending money to upkeep your smile. You’ll need to replace your retainers at least once a year to maintain your Byte for Life guarantee. A set of Byte Retainers cost $129.

You may want to look into other retainer alternatives or budget for new retainers every year. This may be an unexpected cost for some.

Whitening and Cleaning Solution (Free with Kit)

Byte also includes a bottle of BrightByte 3-in-1 premium teeth whitening foam, breath freshener, and teeth aligner cleaner for free. Because teeth alignment requires customers to wear aligners all day, Byte wants to help customers have a whiter, brighter smile at the same time.

Byte recommends cleaning the aligners immediately after taking them out to prevent them from looking cloudy or discolored. However, Byte advises customers to clean the aligners with the BrightByte whitening gel that acts as a teeth whitener/foam cleanser and not to use other whitening products as they can damage the aligners.

Replacement Equipment (Varies)

Besides purchasing a treatment kit, you can also shop for replacement equipment on Byteme.com if you misplace or run out of a certain product. You can purchase more BrightByte for $20 if you run out during treatment. You can also buy other accessories such as the aligner case, HyperByte replacement mouthpiece, a HyperByte charger, the HyperByte, and extraction tool. All of this equipment is provided in your aligner kit. You can also buy retainer replacements that last about six months.

Treatment Details

Average Treatment Length (3 to 6 Months)

The clear aligner system is not only less expensive than traditional braces, but it also speeds up overall treatment. Though the duration of treatment will vary case-by-case depending on several factors, including the extent of the individual customer's alignment needs, Byte offers one of the quickest teeth-straightening programs.

Consumers can also expect a faster treatment time if they're following Byte's recommended guidelines:

  • Wear the Byte invisible aligners as much as possible, only taking them out to eat or drink
  • Use the aligners on both the lower and upper teeth

Byte was really easy to apply for and seemed really easy to navigate through. Im week 9 out of 14 and things seem to be going so far so good. At the beginning there was someone texting me helping me with the impressions and talking to me about everything. I wish they had options for tray sizes. I have a fairly small mouth and getting correct impressions was a bit tricky. I thought I was going to get declined. Only thing is that it take a bit for the Btye team to get back to you if you have questions. But its understandable, theres alot of other people doing these treatments and only so many employees.

The trays are very discreet and the easy-to-follow, regimented and sequentially organized set takes all the guess work out of the whole process. My teeth ache most days, but that's how I know the Byte trays are working!... Well, that and the fact I can see and feel my teeth straightening out with every passing week! My only critique is that the trays are particularly sharp around the edges and the provided mini nail file is not adequate to file down those sharp edges. My first week wearing the trays the sides of my tongue were painfully swollen from the irritation of the tray edges cutting into them. I ended up having to purchase a $50 Dremel tool, which makes quick work of grinding down the edges of the new trays each week. Aside from that, I am very happy with how quickly things are progressing, especially with the use of the included vibration device!

They're better at generating new business than supporting existing customers. When I first ordered my impression kit, I was contacted regularly until I finally decided to order the aligners. Now I'm on the last step of the plan, but when I emailed support to say that something didn't feel right, I got an auto-reply saying that responses could take 5-7 days, and that they were trying to rectify that. With my initial email, I sent pictures, an explanation of the issue, and where I am in the process. When I finally got a human response, they asked for the same information I already sent. I replied with the information again, and now it's been another week and I'm waiting for a reply. I was pretty happy with everything, until I needed something after they already had my money.

I'd love to give Byte 5 stars, but my teeth are not yet straight. I'm only on my 2nd week of my revision aligners, so I still have 13 weeks to go before I actually know if this will work for me. Unfortunately I had gone through 14 weeks of aligners before my progress pictures were reviewed, and it was then that I found out my teeth were off track. Like way off track. It was determined that I have "stubborn teeth" so unfortunately the original plan didn't work for me. I need to keep my new aligners on for 10 days instead of 7 before switching. And 12 hours instead of 10hrs (I'm doing the nighttime aligners) I will say that my teeth have definitely improved, so it is working, it's just taking me a little longer thank originally planned. The process has been incredibly easy. Aside from my stubborn teeth, everything else was much quicker than anticipated. From the time I paid, after sending back my impressions, I had my aligners in about 2 weeks. They have never hurt, I've experienced zero pain this entire process. I did have to get used to taking them out, and I recommend ordering a little tool off of Amazon if you struggle getting them out. I pop them out in seconds with the little very inexpensive tool that has a little loop for your finger and a tiny L shaped end that helps pop them out so you don't ruin your nails. Overall I'm satisfied with Byte. I feel they are still working kinks out of the company, but the people are so friendly to deal with. The customer service takes a long time to respond via email. So don't bother, just go ahead and call them instead. Even if you have to wait a while, it's better than waiting days for an email response. I was quoted $6,000 for Invisalign, and was told I would need to wear them 22hrs a day for a year to straighten my teeth. So I figured I saved half the money, and half the time. So I definitely think Byte is a better deal. I'm hoping to be able to leave another review (or update this one) after my teeth are finally straightened. Overall, I do recommend this company.

I am impressed with Byte aligners. I have problems sleeping with them in. The first couple of days after putting in the new set, are a bit uncomfortable but it subsides. They can be annoying at times but overall I am happy with the results so far.

My experience was mostly good. Directions weren't super clear with hyperbyte. In one area it said it was only needed once but in another area it said to use it twice. I also felt the whitener didn't work. It smelled fresh and I felt like I put mouthwash but I didn't see a difference using it. Within the second week of using the retainers I felt I already saw a difference in a smile.

We are halfway through treatment and I can already see a huge difference in my daughters smile. I just wish they would have come a little faster than they did. Also, I fell through the cracks so I was having to ask for updates. I also wish they would have sent all the aligners at once. I wish there was a little more interaction from the dental professionals. I get the emails when it is time to check in and take pictures, but there is never any follow up about the photos. Are my teeth tracking as expected? Is there something I need to be aware of? It seems like that is just a check to ensure I don't voice my warranty that I purchased, but because teeth are so important I wouldn't mind a little more oversight to make sure I am not on the wrong path an doomed to have dentures because I am doing something wrong with my aligners.

The quality of the program is very good. I was a special case in that treatment has not been as straightforward for me. This led to a lot of communication and knowing what that looks like. The response window is large but narrows once your case is prioritized by the professional team. If that shift had not occurred, the process would have remained frustrating. The staff is polite and informative. So far I recommend Byte to anyone who requires mild cosmetic work and can be entirely self sufficient in the process.

I believe the first retainers should be delivered separately, I was stick using the same aligner on my bottom teeth for the last five weeks and whole they are ready to clean for a week or two they start to get increasingly nasty. If I had been given the lower jaw retainer on well eleven and then the upper jaw at the end of the treatment I would have been much happier. Additionally, a six month same as cash option would be great. I paid cash to avoid the extra cost of payments but I know a lot of people that can't pay cash but wouldn't be willing to do the long term more expensive financing. They would prefer an in the middle no interest option.

The aligners are not always fitted well. I have to trim and file the back molar areas so I can somewhat close my mouth. I was told that they don't move molars so I wonder why there always seems to be too much material on the molar areas; its like they are too thick.

My experience with the aligners themselves is fantastic! Getting started was quick and easy! However once you get going the customer service takes weeks to get back to you and anything they send you takes weeks to get to you. I have had issues with my aligners. Weeks 8-10 were cracked out of the package before wearing them. It took a while for the replacement aligners to arrive and my teeth shifted. I did appreciate the replacements. Unfortunately I continue to have issues with the replacement week 10 aligners. The bottom has a tear making them unusable to wear and the top has mini cracks. I wake up with blood in my mouth. I really just want the top and bottom gaps to close. If replacement week 10 aligners could be sent I would appreciate it so much.

I like byte, but there are pros and cons to everything I will say the customer service getting the aligners set up phenomenal but the customer service after you have the aligners and you started your treatment plan is lacking I think a big thing is is your customer service getting the customer to purchase your products needs to extend after the fact because we are spending thousands of dollars to straighten our teeth and your customer service before hand made me wanna sign up immediately which is why I got the service I did. Now as long as we can continue that service and to treatment then it will be 100% a five star company!
