The Good

  • Suite options
  • Extended stays
  • Family-friendly
Mainstay feature single suites, queen suites, double-queen suites, and one-to-two bedroom suites at attractive rates. Key Brand Identifiers:
  • Fully-equipped kitchens in every room
  • Weekly housekeeping and Daily Lite-Touch service
  • Guest laundry facility
  • MainStay in-house Marketplace for guests to buy food and other items
  • Free high-speed internet access
  • Free MAINSTARTCONTINENTAL BREAKFAST including hotel oatmeal station
Mainstay specializes in extended stays. MainStay Suites hotels are designed for guests to enjoy the best of both worlds: apartment-like living with all the comforts of home, plus the benefits of staying in a hotel. This includes:
  • spacious suites with separate areas for working and relaxing
  • a fully-equipped kitchen
  • free continental breakfast
  • free high-speed Internet
  • on-site laundry room
  • an in-house marketplace
  • regular housekeeping
  • indoor and outdoor pools
Guests call Mainstay Suites a 'hidden gem'-not on the busy strip but a minute or two away.  Its rooms are spacious and clean as advertised. It has a full sized fridge, stove, dishwasher, and even a full sized kitchen table. The staff is very welcoming. Breakfast bar can get very busy, but it is deemed delicious and hot with tons of variety. The hotel is family-friendly due to its spacious accommodations, free amenities and indoor and outdoor pools. Families needing to relocate or simply stay longer than two nights find the extended stay services a good fit for their needs. In fact, Mainstay's pricing is competitive with local five star hotels, where guests find that Mainstay offers better accommodations for a more reasonable price.

The Bad

  • Fees
  • Pets
  • Variations
Guests rave about the hotel accommodations, but their only complaint is a few hidden nightly fees:
  • $6.00 per night for an infant crib
  • $1.50 per night for the room safe
If staying for an extended period of time, these fees hidden can add up. Aside from occasional occurrences outside of the hotel's control, leaving first-time guests disgruntled (i.e. a burst water pipe), guests are pleased except for a love/hate relationship with the location. Since it is not directly on the main roads, it is quiet and relaxing but guests need a car to get to their destinations in many places. If customers are traveling with pets, chances are Mainstay may take them-but guests will have to inquire online or by phone to see if there is a pet-friendly hotel in their state or city. Choice Hotels International (which Mainstay Suites is a subsidiary of) generally offers a list of their pet-friendly hotels. To find a specific Mainstay hotel that may accommodate pets, one has to search the Choice Hotel.com website under the category 'pet-friendly hotels.' Also to be noted is that promoted amenities are typical at most United States hotels but not guaranteed. Additionally, amenities will vary at International locations.

The Bottom Line

As a strong midscale full-service hotel offering extended stay services, Mainstay intends for guests to enjoy the best of both worlds: cozy home apartment-like living with the benefits of staying in a hotel. Mainstay's main selling points are its extended stay services for a week or more, its pet-friendly options, free accommodations, comfortable, spacious rooms and kid-friendly amenities. Its pricing is competitive with local five star hotels, where guests find that Mainstay offers better accommodations for a more reasonable price. Lastly, Mainstay is called a 'hidden gem' due to its hotels being slightly off the main roads, giving guests a quiet relaxing stay compared to many popular hotels where noise is a factor. The downside is having to travel slightly further to get to populated areas.

Jeporia Hughley Stanley, ND

Tyson worst employee ever. Over charged my debit card and refused to fix it. Rude disrespects and insisted my card wasn't charged. Ended up being charged $1140.65 when I should have been charged $417.48. Called customer service and spoke with Carrie "no help what so ever". Now I have to wait during a holiday weekend for the bank to release my money. His attitude was what made the situation worse. This company has done nothing to fix the situation. Don't stay at this hotel!
