With locations found across the globe, Days Inn has become one of the largest budget hotel solutions in the world. Founded by Cecil B. Day in 1970, Days Inn originally featured restaurants, gift shops, and gasoline pumps prior to the brand becoming a franchised operation. Within the first 8 years of franchising the hotel, there were 300 hotels found in the U.S., Mexico, and Canada. Today, Days Inn Worldwide is part of the Wyndham Hotel Group and is based in New Jersey. The Days Inn mission continues to be to provide "The Best Value Under the Sun."

The Good

  • Discounted options
  • Amenities
  • Rewards program
The Days Inn accommodation services are geared towards servicing active, outdoor, or adventure-seeking individuals or families. Typically, Days Inn locations can be found near outdoor attractions, but there are also properties in the hearts of larger cities. Typically, Days Inn charges less than the economy or luxury hotels, providing a discounted option for travelers. Despite being labeled as a "budget" hotel, there are amenities guests can appreciate considering the lower nightly rates. While amenities and other services may vary depending on the location, travelers can typically expect:
  • Daybreak Breakfast: the Days Inn provides a complimentary breakfast complete with oatmeal, yogurt, fresh fruit, and more.
  • Free Wi-fi: guests can stay connected with free Wi-fi available in hotel rooms and common areas.
  • Suite Upgrade: at Days Inn and Suites locations, guests can upgrade their room to include separate living and sleeping areas.
  • Pool/Fitness Center: most location provide at least one or more of these services, but travelers will need to check with each location.
As part of the Wyndham umbrella of brands, Days Inn guests can take advantage of the Wyndham rewards program. The points system allows for travelers to earn free nights, flights, and gift cards with each qualified reservation/stay. Since its founding, Days Inn was able to expand relatively quickly. Today, there are over 1,900 Days Inn locations found worldwide with more than 145,000 rooms available for reservation. Finding a Days Inn in a desired city stateside is relatively easy. Guests can book their reservation at Days Inn online or directly over the phone.

The Bad

  • Inconsistencies
  • Cancellation policy
Days Inn is a franchised operation. Due to the business structure, Days Inn locations do not all necessarily offer the same amenities or services. While each hotel strives to provide similar positive experiences for guests, there are things that differ from location to location. Guests should be aware that there may be inconsistencies such as:
  • Pet Friendliness: some locations allows pets to stay for free, others require a pet fee for clean up, and then there are those that do no allow pets at all
  • Room Choices: some Days Inn locations offer suites to their guests while others only provide the same standard rooms
  • Cancellation: for more information regarding the cancellation policy, see below.
  • Check-in/Check-out times: guests will need to contact the location directly to get specifics on times
There has been some confusion surrounding the Days Inn cancellation policy. Since they are individually owned and operated businesses through the franchise, policies can also differ depending on the location. There is not a set number of hours in advance a guest needs to notify Days Inn regarding a cancellation, nor is there a stringent refund policy. If a traveler needs to cancel their reservation for whatever reason, he or she will need to contact the location directly for policy specifics.

The Bottom Line

Days Inn provides a standard option to travelers looking to stay at a quality location without spending a considerable amount of money. Guests who decide to reserve a night(s) stay with Days Inn can expect the following from their experience:
  1. Standard amenities: continental breakfast, wi-fi, pool, and fitness center typically available at Days Inn locations
  2. Wyndham rewards: earn points to redeem for various bonuses with each qualified Days Inn stay
  3. Varied Policies: some policies will differ depending on the Days Inn location (ie. Pets and Cancellation)

The breakfast was good and there was a computer to use in the lobby. The rooms were big and had amenities like a refrigerator, microwave and coffee maker. The only negative is that the building and rooms could use a makeover. But the price is right.

Days Inn has always served me well. I have stayed at these hotels when I need low cost options for personal travel but am not staying too long, usually driving through states. I appreciate the clean rooms, and helpful staff. I have always had a great experience at Days Inn. Saving money always helps too.

Days Inn has always treated us right. I love the hospitality and the amenities, like the pools, are always clean. They have great breakfast options too, all at an affordable price.

I have stayed at several Days Inn hotels in my life. Although it is a cheaper cost than some of the other brands I have found the quality of the rooms, staff and property in general to be quite acceptable. I would have no problem staying there again when I need a budget hotel.

We've stayed at the Days Inn in St George UT. It was clean and reasonably priced. It made for a reasonable vacation with kids.

The last time I stayed at a Days Inn the AC didn't work in the room, and it was an extremely hot day. They were able to swap me rooms which was nice. They had an indoor pool which made the entire place smell badly of chlorine.

I have a cousin who owned a Days Inn in Southern Utah, and he always took very good care of it. They had a great swimming pool, great beds, and great service. But not all of the Days Inns have been great. It really depends on the location. Some I have been to have been really rundown.

Days Inn is a family go to hotel because they typically offer free breakfast while staying there. That makes it even more budget friendly and a great palace for families to stay

Days Inn is on of your average hotel, rates are relatively reasonable and the cleans appear somewhat clean and put together. Most usually have some secondary amenities such as a pool or hot tub, the quality can really depend on where you are. The cleanness of the rooms really depends on where you are located and how much traffic it receives.

My stays at Days Inn have been okay but nothing exceptional. Days Inn provides modest housing at very reasonable pricing. If fancy rooms, extra perks, and a full and wonderful breakfast is what you want, you may not be pleased here. For my purposes, however, particularly traveling with family on a limited budget, they have been fine.

Its a hotel. Its got a bed or beds depending on the room you book. Its clean or at least appears that way. Its a hotel. I was less than impressed with Days Inn but really cant complain when paying much less than the nicer hotels.

Filthy hotel rooms!!! Staff lies and steals. Area code changes occurred when I was there and they added a new zip code in the same area as the hotel. They charged me 50 cent more to call 4 blocks away. What scammers! Karma bait.

BLECH. Hate Days Inn. I've stayed in this a couple times - once for a family reunion and once out of desperation during a hard financial time. The first time for a family reunion we checked out early and checked into a Marriott. You can't get a good night's sleep in these hotels, and they're pretty trashy and dirty. EW EW EW.

Days Inn is a good option if you are traveling on a budget. They have some great deals on rooms. The continental breakfast was donuts and juice, so not much selection.

Days Inn is a good bargain hotel. If your budget is tight then this would be a good choice. Most of the time they offer a meager continental breakfast.

Really good rates for cheap rooms. Don’t expect a ton out of the cleanliness or helpfulness if staff. Good for a short stay.

I would not recommend the Days Inn, even with its lower price. The rooms are dirty, beds stiff, and I was worried my car was going to get broken into.
