When assigning the technician they hired an unprofessional technician. All star heating and air. Who left the job incomplete and would not contact me back after calling several times. Forcing me to how my own technician costing me over $500 or of pocket. 2 months later still not reimbursed. For them to get me a technician who would not abandon me on another situation took them almost a week.

All other negative comments I have read, add up to the same issues I have experienced. They don’t communicate well. My air conditioner went down. The guy came and took my $75 and never returned. They insisted I needed to contact him which I did for weeks. Every time I called to complain to them they were a joke and transferred me over and over until my head exploded. 82 degrees in my house for summertime. What a joke company.

This is possibly the worse home warranty company in the world; not just the USA. I paid then up front for my warranty. I had them almost a year before I called to use their services. That's when I found this company takes your money and delivers nothing. Last week I called again for the second time AC unit went out.jihad to wait four days for someone to come then the tect had to call to them from my house for authorization. Now they are not repairing my AC and not returning my calls. This is the worse company ever. Please don't lose your money dealing with This company.

Our water heater went out over a month ago and still has not been fixed. Two different people were sent and neither showed up. They finally had someone show up and he took pictures, took the service fee, and left. No one has been back out and now Select is saying the claim has been closed because someone has already come out and if we would like someone to come back out then we will need to pay again. Our water heater is still not working and it does not seem like they will be doing anything about it.

Make sure and get a copy of the contract BEFORE you purchase this coverage. They may have a long list of things they "cover" but you get what you pay for. Most things have a $150.00 cap in the first three months that goes up to $400.00 after that. If you have to replace something that costs $1000.00 or more they only cover $400.00 of that (max cap). This is nothing compared to the real Homeowners Warranties out there. It took me 5 months to get my reimbursement check with weekly calls and "That check should have been sent by now" responses. TERRIBLE!!!

I have been trying to get my heating system repaired for over a month now. I had a reputable company come and diagnose the problem. It took one month for it to be approved, In the mean time the company won't come back because they don't pay their vendors. They assigned another company which have come and repaired my dishwasher. They did such a terrible job, I had to have someone come and redo the repair. No other vendor will come, because they don't get paid, If I use the new vendor I have to pay the 60 fee again.

Select Home Warranty is a rip-off. I paid a year in advance ($500). This is my first real claim. My dryer is currently broken. They are refusing to repair and only want to give $150 towards a new dryer. The warranty states that they have to cover parts needed for the dryer to work. The technician that came out won't even tell me what parts I need after paying a $60 deductible. This is a rip-off. I don't advise anyone to invest in this company. I only gave a star because I was required to to make a deposit.

At this point I have been 10 days without a washing machine. I have paid faithfully for 6 yrs to this warranty company. This is the third time using the warranty. All 3times it has been a nightmare. While they customer service people are polite, they are not helpful. AND there is never a supervisor available to speak with regarding issue. Everything takes 24-48 hours and normally takes 3-4 days. It’s up to the customer to have the follow up. I do not understand...what happen to service ? I sincerely hope that Select will attempt to make good on there end of this contract.

Put 4 claims in with them took so long for a response we had no other option but to take action and get fixed ourselves. What's the point of having a home warranty when you cant get anyone to even show up. Water heater, furnace problems, AC issues all were in need of immediate action....select home warranty....we will get back to you. They we very easy to sign up with but after that, they sucked. Id suggest go somewhere else for a home warrant. We purchased the platinum but they really gave us the steelwool package deal.

Be very wary of this company. They are very good at not telling you the whole truth about your contract, claims process, and exclusions. Additionally, the Technicians they send are not trustworthy, and all follow up phone calls are mishandled and offer a lot of double speak. Do not trust anything anyone tells you since they lack integrity. They wouldn't even pay for another technician to visit my home. I am cancelling my warranty with them and going back to another company we used before. I have had a home warranty for 2 yrs previously, with no claims at all.

Spent hours with the company in the phone inconsistent information! I wanted to cancel in April and even though I sent a request they charged me till august! PLEASE, PLEASE do yourself a favor and do not buy any warrantee from this company. They are nothing but crooks. You can get fooled by the low cost but it’s low for a reason. THEY COVER NOTHING AND DENY EVERYTHING. They write in so many stipulations into the contract so they have an out for everything. Leaky faucet, not covered. A/C goes out, we don’t cover wear and tear. Roof over patio dry rotted, we don’t cover patio roofs. It’s a never ending spewfest of denials. SAVE YOURSELF THE AGGRAVATION!!!

This company is horrible!!!!!!!!!!! I decided to sign up with Select Home Warranty to cover my appliances. I submitted my 1st claim a week ago regarding my clothes washer not working. I have yet received information regarding a technician. I've called everyday after the 38 hr period which is what they guarantee you a technician for updates. When I call, I get told the same thing... sorry for the delay we are trying to find a technician and then I get same automated emails, we are dispatching a technician please allow 24 to 48 hours. Save your money or go with another company!!!!!!!!!!!!

STAY AWAY!! I signed up to get some info on their website and got a call within 3 minutes of submitting my info. The guy who called me was insanely rude. Didn’t give me pricing info and asked how I wanted to pay. I explained I didn’t even know the cost and he got hostile so I hung up. They now call me 2-3 times a day harassing me and when I said I wasn’t interested because their customer service was the worst he started trying to belittle me saying things like “you probably can’t afford it anyways cuz your broke” and hung up. Absolutely the most unprofessional business practices.

Zero is to good for this company. I have put into claims and neither time they wanted to replace the appliance. I bought a home warranty so that I would have assurance that my appliances would be fixed. I am out of pocket $11200 for a stove and about $1000 for a new gas top. Take way away from this company. I found that the the contractors that they sent me are sub par compared to ones that I paid for myself. One claimed he came to the house when he didn't. Liers

I would leave 0 stars if I could. I added septic coverage into my plan and eventually had to replace the septic pump because it went out. Come to find out, 1) if you want to speak to anyone that speaks good English, it won’t happen, and 2) they “cap out” at 400 dollars. Which doesn’t even cover the cost of the pump, much less the labor or electrician to install it. My total was 1685, and they are supposedly “reimbursing me” the 400 within 30 days. If you want a good warranty company, look into something else. Biggest scam I’ve ever seen

Terrible service. It took too long (2 weeks) to have an approval to fix the washer. After we received approval, we had to wait a the third week for a repair man to come and replace the washer machine part. Unfortunately, the washer STILL DID NOT WORK. According to the warranty when I purchased it, if the machine can't be fixed, they would replace it. Select Home Warranty was not able to fix it and would not give me any money to purchase a new machine. On top of that, Select Home Warranty also charged me for the washer part and the repair service.

I live in Arizona. had my A/C unit go out on a newer home, just 3 years old. Temps average 105-110 degrees this time of year. Customer service was terrible taking multiple phone calls to get a tech scheduled and then after that more long phone calls that customer service reps could care less about my problem. Final after a week battling with them they denied my claim stating they don't cover valves. Now 9 days later I'm in the same position, no AC. I would not recommend this company at all, save your money.

We were promised minor roof repairs - paid the 75 dollars to have someone look at the roof, then sent a letter from SHW that repair is not covered. We have a very minor leak that does not require partial or complete roof replacement. It only requires tiles to be taken off to get to the leak, fix the leak, and put those tiles back on. The area of concern is less than 4 feet in diameter. The information is from the contractor sent to our house. This is very disappointing.

Our fridge has been out of commission 5 weeks. The only way to contact them is by calling and the people who answer the phone cannot address any issues. It is July. My disabled husband is on insulin which has to be refrigerated. They now say to get our own contractor but the question is - if they can't help in 5 weeks- how long would it take to get reimbursed. This is the absolute worst experience I have ever had with a business

I’ve been without a washer and dryer for over five weeks now, due to the technicians; First they set me up with a contractor who was really-really hard to reach and/or wouldn’t return my calls; Second time setup a day for service on a Friday (taking part of day off from work) waited & waited until 4pm . Then call to see what was going on just to find out they have me scheduled for service the following Monday (Talk about wasting me whole day & time and money “time off work “)

The technician was dissatisfied by past untimely reimbursements by Select and therefore did not want to do the repair. I have not had a good experience with this company. I have to follow up on the couple of claims I have submitted and their turnaround time to assign a technician is 48 hours. So far my claims have not been approved and I have been waiting for one claim to be assigned a technician for over a week now. I would not use this company again. I’m a realtor and work with other warranty service companies and find this one to be pretty useless.

I called yesterday to cancel the warranty. A Rep told me that I will need to pay $75 to cancel the current policy since it is out of 30 days waiting period. he said, "You can only get full refund within first 30 days waiting period." When I asked for service at first, the select home warranty did not authorize service since it is within first 30 days waiting period. You can not keep changing policy so you won't cover customer's issue. I wish I read your review before I signed up. STOP stealing money from innocence people. Most American pay too much to deal with this kind of poor services.

Called company to complain horrible customer service, I could not understand any of the service reps as English not first language. Horrible experience. Do not get this type of warranty. They will only cover a partial payment of what ever unit it breaks. My current issue: my AC, the compressor went bad, I sent them all three years of maintenance that I do did to my unit including pictures and they are only covered 150 dollars. I was with AC in Florida over 5 days, numerous calls and nothing. The sellers will try to convince you of all the items they cover but don't get tricked by them, it's partial cover only and labor is on you.

Submitted claim for pool filter on July 27th. Select Home Warranty technician came out 5 days later on 08/01. Technician submitted the diagnosis to SHW on 08/06. After 27 phone calls to customer service, I decided to have the filter changed myself at a cost of $1,235.00 at the suggestion of several "customer service" agents and 3 supervisors. After 4 weeks of nothing but aggravation, they offered me $100.00 and said have a nice day. I cancelled the contract on the spot. Nothing but a scam company

Therefore, I have a warranty that is useless because SHW is NOT providing their end of the contract. I paid the $2,000 and they took my money and ran. I can’t even get ahold of someone to cancel this. What a nightmare. I have reported you to the New Jersey BBB for investigation.

I do not recommend them. We had them for about 6 months and then had trouble with our central AC. Every step of the way after having a repairman diagnose the problem, it was a couple 48 hour windows for them to make some decisions, then they wanted further info followed by more 24 hour decision processes. 2 weeks later and they said they approved the repair, they will cover a maximum of $150 for a fix that's going to run $1,200+ What a joke.

It is not in my habit to tell bad thing of a business, but this company seems to be the worst on the market. First their exclusions are outrageous. We had few repair to do just after buying the house even after a good inspection. We took the pool coverage and all the "electronic" and the "tub" works are not covered (let me know what is covered ?). Today it was a visit to check my A/C which was not working properly. Just having a look at the unit (saying that it works - which I knew. The contractor asked me $130 and advised to clean the unit (always good advice).

My clothes dryer went out and they will pay for the part but not for the part to be installed. They will not send me a check for what they will pay to put toward a new dryer until I buy a new dryer. I need that money to cover the cost as I am on fixed income. My advice is do not chose this company as they are crooks.

We had a garbage disposal go bad. They said because it was old, the contract allowed them not to fix it and give us $75 instead. We now have to figure out how to get it fixed, and anything that goes bad is old so what will they end up fixing? I was told by the salesman Bruce when questioned on this that it would not happen. They give you a thirty day refund policy, but at the same time you have to wait thirty days to use. We will see what happens on the next repair.

Be very wary of dealing with this company. Take note that most of the good reviews have to do with customer service while purchasing the contract. Be sure to look at the exclusions in section 9 prior to purchasing. This section is worded in a way that basically gives the company the ability to decline claims for almost any situation. It's super shady.

They collect your money and when you put in a claim they don't fix anything. I have had an issue with my plumbing in the bathroom- only to find out I didn't have coverage had to purchase additional plumbing and fixture for $ 49.99 ONLY TO FIND OUT I HAD TO PAY AN ADDITIONAL $ 600.00 OUT OF POCKET. Home Warranties are the worst investment a person can make. This company doesn't cover much and its hard to get reputable contractors to take care of a job. I later found out the reason was because Select warranty was not paying the contractors like they are supposed to so the customer gets the short end of the stick. I will not be renewing my service. This "home" warranty company is closer to a scam than an actual home warranty. You pay them a bunch of money. Something that is covered breaks, and then you get to see them not cover any of the cost to replace. STAY AWAY this is a SCAM and they should be shut-down. Select Home Warranty refused to pay to replace a part the stopped working properly in my AC system and fabricated a bogus story blaming me for the part that went bad by accusing me of not taking care of my AC system. I have the receipt from when I paid to have the system serviced a few months ago. Select Home Warranty should be held accountable for the scam they are running on me to avoid paying for the replacement part that would fix my AC.

My lawn sprinkler failed, so I called SHW, They assigned a technician that never called even though I left several messages, before his mailbox became full. Finally got him and he told me that he was a plumber, not a sprinkler repairman. Called the company again, they assigned a true sprinkler company, This company contacted me and told me that they did not do work for SHW. I called the company to cancel the policy, they want to deduct a portion of the premium, I refused to be shortchanged and cancel through the credit card co. GOOD RIDDANCE

Called on a Friday, by the following Tuesday had to call the selected repair technician myself, never heard from them. Afterwards you denied my claim , stating no covered. The coil had a leak whicy lead to Freon leaking. In the not covered section of policy, there is no reference to the coil not being covered. Terminated policy. Will not recommend to anyone.

I have called them out on two occasion. The last one was a dishwasher repair. I paid the $75 call out fee to find out this is not covered as a repair but was told that the part would be but not cost of labor. I chose to order part and have shipped to me and repaired myself. I have emailed and tried well over 5 times to talk to someone with finally getting through for them to tell me now that the part is not covered. Don't buy their warranty... it is awful.

The most difficult company to get a straight answer from. They DO NOT live up their agreement. You cant get timely support from the rep or the "manager" when you ask to elevate. When you ask to cancel they promise to extort your refund by deducting any efforts completed to date and a $75 penalty fee. Very sad, so give your money to a panhandler...at least you know where your money went.
