Customer service most of the time I called, was Awful. I got different answers of what was covered by different people. It was very difficult to understand most agents because they are from foreign countries. The only things I needed covered was my electric baseboard heaters, but because the problem was more than just replacing the baseboard heaters, (which is only about $150-350), and it involved power to the thermostat they refused to cover it. I had told the agent that was the problem, and they said I had to have service man look at it. They sent an service man who said the same thing, I did and I had to pay the $100 service fee, for him to say the same thing I did. Why could they not have just told me, we don't cover that instead of making me pay the service fee, and now Im out a $100 I could have put towards repairing it. They also only have 2 men, not companies, men in ABQ who do electrical work. One of them in located in Rio Rancho and does not want to come to ABQ unless he has other work here, so he will only do your job, if he can call you spur of the moment when he is already in town. He also informed me that he really doesn't want to take work from AHS anymore because they have not paid his last 7 invoices. I also had to argue with the agent about the type of service man I needed. They kept wanting to send a HVAC, and if they had, I would have had to pay them 2 service fees and be out $200.00, since they won't cover my job anyways. Poor Customer Service, and there is no manager to speak with about how you are treated. Poor Company- set up to make the most of you, cover little to nothing, (they would not even cover a doorbell) and pay employees that are not even in our country so they can make the most profit.

DO NOT HIRE THIS COMPANY! Dec 19th we closed on our home and purchased a warranty through them. Dec 20th we realized the fridge was not cooling down so we placed a warranty service request Dec 30th after dealing with two of their contractors someone showed up and gave us a notification that the compressor is not working. However given they are not EPA certified they couldn't work on the unit Jan 7th. After calling AHS daily to put pressure on sending someone else Sears shows up and provides a diagnosis of what's wrong with the unit (same as above). A 2nd appointment is scheduled for Jan 22nd without a guarantee that problem will be fixed. This timeline is one month after initial problem has been detected. Company's call center is very difficult to deal with and impossible to get in touch with a manager. I've spent over 6 hours on the phone to fix this issue and have given up. Will have to buy a new unit out of pocket. Buyer beware!

We have used AHS for previous repairs and had no issue with the contractors or repairs. Now we have had a range top that caused literally a small explosion in our kitchen that fortunately did not destroy the home or kitchen. The technician who visited said the range top is non repairable. It's been a month and we cannot get an answer as to why a check has not been issued. It cannot be repaired and it is also a JennAir so it is at the top end of cost. I am very upset at how I get run around from customer service as to they need more time to process the request. No they need to honor the contract! I cant even get an email from AHS acknowledging that they are doing anything about this at all. Follow up: My wife probably spent 3 hours on the phone and over and hour of that on hold waiting for someone to answer the cue. She managed to get our situation resolved, but it was also in part a huge part thanks to the contractor who came out to service our range top. They literally were on the phone with AHS at the same time on the phone with my wife and my wife was on another line with AHS. Kingdom Appliance after submitting the spread sheet forms 3 times to AHS and personally calling AHS while on another line with my wife finally got a representative to send the request for replacement of a range top to go through. I have finally ordered a replacement which I will most likely have to modify my cabinet space for but at least we will have something. I'm hopeful that GE/Monogram series is of good quality for a replacement. No one should have to go through this kind of trouble or stress. Thank you again Kingdom Appliance for their beyond the extra mile customer service!!!

Bad guidelines for emergencies, no call backs as promised, and contractors are closed on weekends. Even though their contractors have 24/7 emergency service, and they hire low grade contractors. Here is my long but short story: The local gas company detected gas leaking from my furnace. I requested service from AHS and the tech came out the next morning. Great! Right! However, he stated there was not a gas leak and left no paperwork with proof of diagnosis(he also stated that the gas company was just trying to get over - this left me baffled). As a result, I contacted the local gas company again and they came back and did another test and detected the gas leak again. I took a video of the test and sent it to the tech and still no response from the tech. AHS tried to contact him and they could not. Therefore, because of their guidelines of having to have more details from this tech -this put me in limbo and I could not get assigned another vendor. My question to AHS was why am I penalized because your tech has not submitted his report? I never got an answer just a repeat of their scripted rely. I explained to AHS that I have a valid report from the gas company that there is a gas leak coming from my furnace! Finally according to AHS, the tech put his report in and stated that he did not detect leak. I thought this was great, only to have AHS to tell me that they needed more details from the tech. After several calls I am now waiting to be approved for a new vendor. AHS calls my situation a expedited and emergency situation. However, I am without heat and not even a name of a vendor to come out and repair. I am disappointed that I have not received any returned phone calls, etc! I am beginning to understand that home warranties are not worth it. The purpose of this home warranty was to give my family piece of mind. However, I am disappointed to say that is not true. The representatives have a script that they read("I am personally taking care of this and will do my best to resolve this I understand you how are feeling") - this after a while becomes very condescending and an insult to my intelligence. A couple of times the representatives disconnected the call. I even did an online chat and the representative ended the chat without notice. Some of the representatives were very patient yet the scripted conversation was condescending. Finally I got a representative who told me you know you will not get any service until Monday - I respect that versus the run around and the promises to call back. I have not received any confirmation of service yet! Side Note: The contractor that came out have bad reviews! As a result, before my appointment was made with contractor I called back to see if I could request another contractor and they told me no. The complaints about this contractor included his connection to AHS and their poor guidelines in resolving issues. Therefore, I found other reviews for American Home Shield and all I can say is WOW at the negative reviews that report the same issues. Hopefully AHS will resolve my issue as we continue to have no heat and I can come back and right a positive review about how they resolved this issue.

Frustrating HVAC

My 19 year old water that American Home Shield (AHS) installed went out and they charged an extra $410 for upgrading the water heater to code in 2019. AHS first send the water size water heater then send right but called it an upgrade. Upgrading the pipes contacted to new was all I saw and it is now 2020 and water has not been inspected by the city yet. RUN AND HIDE IF YOU CAN THEY ARE CROOKS. I was customer since September 1996 and I left them, I got tired of having to call and talk to insufficient representatives who use a item on the contract that did not apply to my situation because they installed the water heater that needed replacement.

Finally received my reimbursement check for repair services after waiting 10 to 14 business days. The check was NOT VALID because it lacked both a routing number AND an account number. I was unable to deposit or cash it, even after presenting it to the issuing bank's (Chase) local branch. Incidentally, Chase seemed like they didn't care too much. I called and was disconnected twice after being put on hold the first two times--I pleaded with the 3rd rep to please not disconnect me and thankfully he did not. You will never receive a call back after being disconnected, so you have to always, always call back and start explaining your story anew to each new rep you speak with. I was told I could have the check reissued, but would have to wait another 10 to 14 business days before I received it. We'll see...given the other problems, it seems that it was intended to be an incomplete check. The check number did appear on the bottom line, just not the routing or account, the standard numbers which would be printed on the same line along with the check number. The check looks good in every other way, so don't be fooled.

I am pretty sure AHS is a scam. I have tried to use my policy twice - once for plumbing and once for a heater that stopped venting. Both times it failed Paid $75 fee Their plumber - said it couldnt be unclogged, AHS does not cover $100 fee for additional independant plumber - simple routing job. PAID TWICE what i would have just not using their service. Paid $75 fee Their HVAC tech - says my heater is needing a replacement and is dangerous. AHS says they do not cover. Both items were tested and passed inspection at the time we purchased our home. We took out this policy to protect against things breaking in our first year. Things have broken but AHS is covering nothing. I wish i could cancel my policy and am regretting paying the fees to talk to their technicians

We entered into agreement with American Home Shield in May of 2019. The first time we called to access the warranty service occured in the first week of November 2019. The repair man arrived and was unable to fix our problem of the home addition Furnace was not working. I ordered and purchased a igniter on line and replaced it myself before the AHS representative returned. The following week the other furnace went out. I was unable to secure another igniter due to the time span being short. I left the house 3 hours before the repairman arrived. Again, it was the igniter which was replaced. When I left the house there was no issue with the 9 -year old water heater. The repairman decided for some unknown reason to tamper with the water pressure drain valve. Everyone in this business knows if you tamper with this valve, due age it may not re-seat properly. When I left home, the water heater was fine. When I returned the water heater was leaking (running) water which flooded the lower section of the water heater and destroyed it. AHS wanted us to replace that unit at cost of $1,300.00 or return what we had paid for services and contracts to date ($581). To date we have not received the payment and was forced to have a local company, Recker & Boerger replace the damaged water heater at a cost of $1,049.00. We are currently waiting on the refund from S AHS which should be the entire cost of the Damaged Unit which was in pristine order prior to it being tampered with by the AHS representative.

I was originally a customer of HSA, and when American Home Shield bought HSA, the company practices changed for the worst. The most recent issue is that I requested for a toilet repair. It took 1 month and over 3 hours on the phone with AHS to have the toilet repaired. Not once did AHS apologize or admit to negligence. Instead, I was continually charged and had to continually follow up with AHS to have the issue resolved. As a company, they fail to be accountable for mistakes made by their outsourced customer service representatives. The retention department focuses more on collecting their fees without focusing on retention. Instead, they want to charge for canceling policies and not resolving customer issues. The worst company I have ever worked with.

The warranty company used to be fine until the calls started routing to some customer care in Philippines. I had an issue with washer leaking water and created a service request in June 2019. A part had to be ordered and until we made several calls, the part was not ordered. After the part was ordered, it took around 3 months to fix it to the washer. The mechanical company being used doesn't respond to the calls/voice message or text messages. AHS Philippines call center has no clue or control over the mechanical company and they just ask us to pay the service fees and request online. If the delay is on their side, I could not understand why I had to pay another service fees. The answer was they did visit and its been 60 days after the visit and hence I had to pay. I asked them for their employee number or some identification and I am told that there is nothing. On top of it, they don't log the information of the call. I insisted on getting the supervisor and some guy faked to be a supervisor and could not give any identification to refer them. This call center is a sham. Luckily after 4-5 attempts, I could catch hold of an US-based representative and she was able to send the technician in 2-3 days. But it didn't fix the issue and again the in-numerous number of calls and luck of hitting a US-based representative was frustrating to the core. Its been almost two months trying to catch hold of them and I am just being asked to pay the trade service fees again even though the issue was reported long back. The representatives are not logging the information correctly. And to my bad luck, every time I am hitting a call center guy in Philippines. There is no way to write to them and am seriously considering cancelling the subscription.

Woke up Christmas morning with no heat in the main part of the house. I went to the breaker box and found a tripped breaker. I reset the breaker only for it to spark and my husband heard a popping sound coming from the baseboard heater. The breaker would not reset. Made a claim with AHS and got a confirmation of a contractor that same day. The contractor called and said they had no appointments until December 31, 2019. I called and cancelled that contractor and asked for another one. I was concerned that my house could catch fire. I talked to someone who reassured me that dispatch was looking for a contractor. I waited and called 2 more times. The same identical story that they were still looking for a contractor. I inquired from one of the home repair sites on the cost of the repair. I answered the phone and an electrician said that they were coming to look at my electricity. The electrician diagnosed the problem as a short circuit in the baseboard heater. The electrician called AHS with the claim and was told it was denied. I couldn't chance my family's safety so I paid for the repair out of pocket. The repair was electrical and was a covered under the warranty. There was a zero reason for the denial. I have been with this company for nearly 2 years. I have paid on time every month. I have no prior claims with this company whatsoever. The first true emergency and they gave me the round around and then denied my repair claim for no viable reason. Also, the electrician who did the repair was fantastic. He was reasonable, through and professional. My new heater is working well and my house is warm again! No thanks to AHS! I am at the point of searching for a new company or just setting up an emergency fund and putting the money in a savings account for any future repairs.

Bad response - no call backs, contractor CLOSED on weekends! I had my dishwasher spewing water all over my floor a day before Christmas (when I was hosting dinner!). Called to get service, scheduled for "between 1 and 5" with a promise that the contractor would call me the morning of to confirm. NO phone call (I called them and they confirmed that it would be between 3 and 5 and that a technician would call me when he was on his way). At 4:40, no phone call so I called and now it is "so sorry, it is now between 5 and 7PM (on a Friday). I could not hang out for that as I had company and had to leave for dinner plans. They were to have technician call me to reschedule. Never happened and I tried to call on Saturday and...THEY ARE CLOSED! Really!? to fix appliances, most people are more available on weekends to receive repair people. So, AHS no help either. Nice rep stated he would have another contractor scheduled if he could not get ahold of them (Saturday). Come Sunday, still no response from ANYONE (contractor OR AHS). So, again I had to call AHS. Different AHS rep tells me he could NOT schedule another contractor because of "their guidelines". I asked about the prior AHS rep promise to get me another contractor and this guy kept saying "due to guiidelines...". Sheesh! Now I have to wait for Monday.... and who knows, I probably will have to take the lead yet again and call. They have taken my $80, set me up with a contractor that is not responsive, closed on weekends and I still have a broken dishwasher.

We placed a call into AHS on 12/26 due to a sewage plumbing issue that caused all our plumbing to back up, including sewage in our basement. Although Kyle (supervisor), assured us he would have someone out that day. No calls or service! We finally were able to reach someone the following day when they stated there was no record of our service call!!! We finally had a plumber come out on 12/27 who spent little time here and stated it was resolved. He barely pulled away when the plumbing backed up again!!! He later called AHS stating it wasn't covered by our policy (tampon was found in the plumbing), so he didn't clear the line, although he stated it was resolved. There haven't been any tampons in this house for years and we requested a second opinion. The single item they pulled out couldn't of caused the major issues we have going on! We have received nothing but sham responses and empty promises. We continue to call AHS (Kyle, Keisha, Julia) and get put on hold and end up back to the beginning, having to explain everything all over again. We have been waiting on the "second opinion" all day with no contact, other than the calls we continue to place with AHS. We have never dealt with such poor service and lack of compassion! Read your contract thoroughly, if there's a way AHS can get out of paying, they will!

I have had difficulty with the company since day one. Warranty came with purchase of the home. The customer service reps are not native English speakers , that would be okay if they were good English speakers. But it is more than a difficult to understand accent. They can only read off their script and don’t seem to understand what you are saying. Then, you wait on hold a long time, and get hung up during the call a lot once you’ve connected to a rep, they do not call you back when call is dropped so you start from square one: holding in the queue, explain your situation, etc. this is multiple calls over multiple days. I finally obtain approval to use my contractor for repair. He received approval , I submitted paperwork and it has been weeks . The cyst service rep states it processed and check sent on dec 13th, should take 10 d to 2 weeks , which is odd , but ok. I’m now sitting at 2 weeks with still no repayment. I’ve called and talked to a couple of reps today - just to be told to hold on a bit longer. It’s a bit ridiculous. In contrast I had a refund from another insurance co in a matter of days start to finish with electronically deposited funds.

If I could give negative number of stars I would. I’ve spent the past year trying to get my AC repaired through my American Home Shield warranty. I’ve been given the ultimate run around and wasted countless hours and thousands of my own money. After multiple AC repair men they sent out couldn’t repair or replace our unit, we were told to find our own local service and have them contact AHS with a diagnosis. After searching and paying multiple people to come out we finally found someone to replace the unit. Then AHS decides they want a second opinion. They send another repair man out that agrees it needs to be replaced however AHS is refusing to put the same unit in and insists on replacing it with a unit that their repairman says WILL NOT work with our existing pipes. They are awful and I wouldn’t recommend them to anyone at all!!

Contacted AHS 10 days ago about a plumbing issue and oven not working properly. The temperature fluctuates as much as 50 degrees. Food either burns or has to cook forever to get done. Plumbing was partially fixed a week ago. Have to wait until Dec 23 for repairman to come back to fix correctly. I waited and additional day to be contacted by repair service for the oven. They called me and asked what the problem was, asked for make, model and serial number and then told me the were ordering parts. Said they would call me when the parts came in and would come out. Two days later repairman came out with no parts. I asked why and he told me that it had to be evaluated first. I told him about the phone call and asked him why I was told that parts were being ordered first. His response was that the office frequently lies to the customers to stall them when they are busy. He looked at my oven for a couple of minutes and said that there are problems with Whirlpool ovens. He said there were no error codes showing up (he did this just by looking at the front of the stove, pulling it out and just looking at the back-nothing else). He told me I would just have to deal with it! Then proceeded to tell me I had to sign a release to free him of any liability of damaging my stove. I told him that I had no idea if he did or didn’t. Calling corporate has been a nightmare. They wanted to send the same group back out. I told them that I wouldn’t let them in the house if they did. Then was told they had to get permission to assign it to someone else; that I would hear back in a few hours. Didn’t hear anything until the end of the next day. Called the area sales rep twice before getting a text response. Was told her admin asst would take care of it. Bottom line it is now 10 days since my original service request, both the area sales rep and her admin are out until after Christmas. They reassigned it to a Whirlpool repair service and was told they would be here today between 8-4:00. Got a call this afternoon that their serviceman will come out January 2nd! Christmas is in 5 days, my oven doesn’t work properly, repairman isn’t coming until 2020, rep and admin are on vacation, and I can’t safely prepare holiday meals for my family. Merry Christmas to me! Have very serious reservations about this company. If you are considering buying a home warranty from them think twice! You may end up having to wait until sometime in 2020 to have your Christmas dinner.

My microwave caught fire the day before Thanksgiving!!!! They have sent out 2 different people and both are saying something different!! No one follows up unless you call them. Now on my only day off I’m waiting a 3rd time for someone to diagnose the problem. Meanwhile I have no microwave. Waste of money and will be cancelling! There customer service is terrible and the low grade (or better no grade) third rate repair technicians are incentive to find loopholes not to pay only to up sell a costly repair. AHS is AMAZING with very timely calls citing a loophole in the Terms and conditions to deny claims! Anyway, I finally got a clue and called a reputable repair company who told me the AHS diagnostic was “Crud” and fixed my heating for a fraction of the $900 repair bill I was lied that I needed. Oh, I am forgetting the $75 AHS fee!! Do yourself a favor, save yourself time and aggravation and call a real service company

Not surprising this didn't fix the problem. Now I was told there is an ignition bar that was being replaced on this model routinely about 5 years ago. Why just replace parts that had already been replaced? Now I'm screwed until after Xmas waiting on another part!!!

They have been so horrible to work with. My heater has been broken for over two weeks. The first technician who was supposed to come was cancelled and no one can give me a definitive reason why. The second was the wrong type of repair man. The third just didn't really know what was wrong. This might all be forgivable if there was any customer service. At every step there has been a delay. They never call back when they say they will. The customer service representatives seem like they are rushing to get off the phone and every response sounds scripted. I'm just so angry with them. I tell them that I am really unhappy with how the situation has been handled and their response is "okay, is there anything else I can help you with?" What kind of response is that?

First I’d like to say is if I could’ve given them a zero I would have. Spoke with customer service regarding a denied claim to replace a part on my furnace. Denial is based on the fact that an internal part of my furnace apparently has corroded/or has rust and will not be covered by warranty because they state that my furnace has no been Maintained properly. I had just purchased the home and decided on using American home shield as my warranty service. I had no control over the previous owners actions on how they maintained this furnace. However I purchased the platinum plan with American home shield so that I could specifically have peace of mind with my appliances and furnace/air conditioner. At no point during the conversation with the sales person did anyone ever tell me that everything would be conditional on the condition of the furnace. I was simply reassured that I had nothing to worry about that everything would be covered with a small fee for service. I will be reaching out to the Better Business Bureau as well as the Attorney General of the state of Texas. It’s shameful that I’m having to do this especially since I did business with them in good faith.

I've been waiting 5 days to get an answer on the payout for my Water Heater. The contractor AHS sent out wants to add on charges of $1200, are you kidding me??? I was told they'd get this to me 4 days ago...clearly the business model is to send contractors out and have them upsell me on code violations and add-ons so they can make money, likely because AHS doesn't pay them a fair amount. Customer service is a joke, 15 times I've been put on hold, there's no record or prior calls or progress on my ticket. I used the AHS contractor 2 years ago for a water pressure regulator value replacement and the recent contractor said it doesn't work and needs to be replaced. It just goes on and on. Don't use this company!

I may be come back for the rate but for now I'm unsatisfied with AHS services and their customer service. Can you pay attention to all your customers complain, their review or complaints is true become it happened to me now. I wish I red all this review before I renew my contract. Anytime I made a service request they denied it and I ask for my contract agreement, you refuse to provide me. I have full coverage for electrical issue and you still denied my service due to your lack of experience technician. So can you tell me what I'm paying for? The technician claim overload without trace any wire. The technician don't want to do because the claim you don't pay them well and it seems AHS is begging the sevice technician . Then instead of AHS to get back to me since two weeks that i have being calling them for the follow up, no they didn't I still have more questions and reviews after I received my contract.

Just Bought home less than 2 months ago and tried to talk to customer service because of a couple of issues such as a leaking toilet and total electric heat and air unit that needs to be repaired or replaced. Called twice trying to find out what exactly would be out of pocket cost if these appliances needed replacing. Was on the phone for over 2 hours with people who had broken English and hard to understand then put on hold only just to be hung up on both times so I can only imagine the rest of the services this company offers and how bad their customer service is. Will be talking to the bank to cancel policy as well as the Better Business Bureau. Very DISGUSTED!!! DID NOT RATE BECAUSE THIS COMPANY DOES NOT EVEN DESERVE 1 STAR!! HAD TO LEAVE ONE STAR OR IT WOULD NOT LET ME POST REVIEW ! JUST ANOTHER LOOP HOLE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Nothing except minor repairs is covered 100% had a call for a bad a/c unit , not covered had to pay 100% for a new one , pool/spa heater not covered had to call another repair service to make me feel good because it wasn’t cover because it wasn’t up to code ever though it was up to code when installed or it couldn’t have been installed . I also had a pilot light went out and the service man sent out who was very helpful said that if I had to replace it it would only be partially covered.I just think it is deceptive advertising To say you will replace a major appliance knowing full well you won’t is bothersome and person I spoke to about my grievances would not refer me to higher level to try to come to a compromise or some partial compensation my . I don’t expect anyone to reach out to me to try to make things right because I have wrote reviews before and never received any feed back either by E mail or phone call I guess I need a lawyer or to tell anyone considering your service to avoid your company because you won’t even replace what you say you will in your commercials I AM VERY DISSATISFIED and I Know you won’t respond to this survey also. Customer satisfaction is the number one thing you should strive for but do not seem to care about your customers.

American Home Shield is a solid waste of money. I have two experiences with them, both horrible. First: a blockage. I pay 75$ for the contractor to come and diagnose the issue. They say they need to further inspect some less accessible pipe and that is going to require AHS approval. They would get back to me. I call AHS to check on the status of the request, they say they never received a detailed report from the contractor, so the problem cannot be fixed. I call again after one week, they say the same. Same thing every week for one month and a half. Ultimately, I call another contractor and I pay out of pocket (2k). Second: leaking dishwasher. Dishwasher started malfunctioning mid September. I pay 75$: a contractor comes, cannot find anything wrong with the dishwasher. Cleans sensor, leaves. Dishwasher works for two days, then breaks again. Same contractor comes again, does not find anything weird again, cleans it again, tells me to ask AHS to call another contractor for a second opinion if the dishwasher breaks again. As a matter of fact, the day after, it "breaks" again. Second contractor arrives, says they need to change a sensor (the leak detector). They need to order the part. They say - and AHS confirms - the part is going to arrive by the 20th of October (one month later). I wait. I call back on the 20th. Sadly the part did not arrive. They say the part is going to arrive on the 28th. I wait and call again. They say that the part is going to arrive by the 6th of November. I call again to confirm, and they say there is no guarantee the part is going to arrive, anytime, ever. It might arrive, I might have to wait another month, 9 months, 1 year, 25 years. Who knows. The part is readily available online for 15$ - I could probably buy it myself and fix it pretty quickly. Thing is, I paid 75$ to AHS for the contractor to come and clean the sensor manually, on top of the ~500$ for the yearly AHS subscription that were basically a waste of money. In short, as before, they are going to wait it out till I decide I had enough of it and I will fix the dishwasher myself. Main reason why AHS is worthless is clear at this point. AHS is a scam, as they don't have a guaranteed time period after which they escalate a service request. You need a part? Sure, it will come, sooner or later. We need a detailed report from a contractor to make a decision? Sure, no worries, sooner or later it will happen. This is a strategy that, in my opinion, they maliciously use to avoid paying for costly repairs, whenever possible. As such, I would strongly suggest anybody to think twice before paying these gentlemen a dime for their "service".

10-year customer. This company provides the worst customer service ever. They do not call you back they do not follow up with what they say they're going to do. They do not return your calls or emails they do not care about any issue you have except making their monthly payment. They will send contractors out to your house to break your appliances and not cover you. They leave you in an endless loop and never resolve your issue. I recommend choosing any other Home Warranty company than this one. They do really bad business and have the poorest customer service I have ever seen. All you will be is a number to this company. They have no concern for any issues you have.

My AHS owner page advertised a heating system checkup. I clicked through and was charged the $75 fee. After a week went by without contact, I contacted AHS via Facebook Messenger. I learned that my request had been cancelled without notifying me because their contractor won't do heating system checks. Mind you, this was a special service advertised in the AHS owner center itself, and advertised via direct email to me.

They wrote up coverage for me but left out the Air Conditioners. Most of the time I don't use their vendors so I ended up paying out of pocket anyway. Their sales staff is either uninformed or intentionally mislead - they tell me about a plan that reimburses for coverage as I'm cancelling their policy. One of their vendors said he would order a part for us. We wait for the part only to find out that he never ordered it because he said we broke the stove. Another one of their vendors comes and fixed the stove in 15 minutes. They charge me $100 to cancel the contract . I say buyer BEWARE!!

I recently submitted a request repair for my a/c unit, a technician came out and said it was my evaporator coil which is covered. I was relieved to hear this and waited 2 weeks to hear back on approval for the fix. I finally heard back and was blown away that even though the work was covered I had to pay $1347. $600 of this was refrigerant and another $700 were code upgrades. I cannot get a straight answer on why I have to pay for code upgrades. They say I may need a different primary float switch, secondary float switch, something with my drain pan and several other things I cannot remember. My feeling is that AHS low balls the repair company so much that these code upgrades are a way for them to make more profit. I have a primary and secondary float switch and nothing that I can find says if you REPAIR you have to upgrade. If we were installing a new unit then yes we would comply with new codes. I can understand the refrigerant but do not agree with these code upgrades. Why not advertise this more b/c repairs are not free!!!!

On Friday evening late my furnace made some loud noises then quit. I had just had major back surgery (fusion) & was moving slow and on pain pills. I immediately called my repair company that has done yearly maintenance on my A/C & furnace. They came out Sat morning.Reputable company. Upon inspection they determined the furnace motor was out but could not obtain a new one until Tuesday as it had to be ordered & that model was not available in our area. They took the old motor to insure they ordered the correct one. On Sunday I remembered AHS & called they immediately. Told to call back on Monday. Monday I called back & was informed they could not honor my contract as I had not called them first. I could have the company reinstall the motor they AHS would send someone out to check it out. That was stupid as new motor was due Tuesday morning & it was freezing. I had heaters running & still not over 64 degrees. I am 75 & wife is 76. Freezing is unsat. I explained that all through my working life my concept was how to get it done not why we can't. Anyway I noticed AHS took out my payment immediately on the 24th. I, on the 25th, called my credit card company to have the payment reversed & block any further withdrawls from my card. IL told AHS on the morning of the 25th to cancel my contract immediately & what I would be doing with the card. I asked to talk to manager twice & was told not available then on the phone. I will be posting this on facebook & twitter & also to BBB. I paid the whole $868.80.

I have made a few service requests, and most things are not covered. A contractor dispatched did not list that they work on the unit i made a request for. I asked how contractors were chosen, because most have low reviews. Customer service could not explain this process to me. My contract clearly defines that an issue is covered however the authorization department finds a way to deny the claim. Technician tells me they submit the pictures, AHS customer service says they do not have access to pictures. There is a huge lapse in communication within the company. It is next to impossible to get answers or discuss an issue as they are not technical. I had an another service request for an emergency pipe burst on a Saturday night. AHS made the situation more stressful. First time I called, they told me to wait until Monday and google a contractor if it is urgent. Upon calling back and speaking to someone else, they had me wait 4 hours for their contractor to not contact me (meanwhile my house had water pooling up and then I had no running water). After, I was able to get someone out to fix the pipe . AHS did not support me in the emergency, they treated a burst pipe and no running water like a walk in the park. Afterwards, this claim was also denied. AHS is great for people who like wasting money, wasting time, getting talked into a headache, and getting hung up on when they call in for support.

My wife and I purchased a condo this spring, and paid for a warranty from AHS. The hot water in our condo was BROWN when we moved in. There was so much sediment in the hot water that anyone would have been able to see that the water was going to fail before very long. AHS refused to listen to anything that my wife or I had to say on the matter. On the (Wednesday) morning before Thanksgiving, the water heater failed. There was no hot water, and there was water running across the utility room floor. The earliest that AHS could have someone look at the water heater was to be the following Monday. Then, the vendor would have to contact AHS to have a water heater sent to them for installation. That's a minimum of five days without hot water! Since we had family on their way to our home to spend the Thanksgiving holiday with us, I contacted a plumber to install a new water heater. merican Home Shiled is WORTHLESS, in my opinion. The only thing that having a warranty with AHS does is to slow done the process of getting necessary repairs done. AHS will refuse to make any repairs until an issue that is just an inconvenience grows to be a critical problem. If you like waiting for your systems to fail completely before making repairs, then maybe AHS is the right choice. Personally, I don't like waiting until things completely fail. I don't care to be without hot water, electricity, etc.

Waited 2 weeks for an appliance repair company (Greenway Home Services) to come to my house to fix a non working dryer. It's been 72 hours since the repair company came and assessed what parts need to be fixed. I've still not heard from AHS and have called 3 days in a row to be told the same story. First, AHS needs to get reps that are in the U.S. Second, I asked to speak to a manager and was told they were busy. Third, I still don't have an answer on when my dryer will be fixed. We're approaching a holiday and will most likely have to wait another week to repair it. 3 week wait to fix an appliance is UNACCEPTABLE.
