The Good

  • Services

crowdSPRING is a niche freelance marketplace for logos, graphic design, and naming. crowdSpring is able to effectively focus on their specific niche because they don’t offer the kitchen sink. crowdSPRING has grown considerably since 2008 and hosts a considerable community of creatives. The website is easy to navigate and doesn’t offer too many small tools, resources, and pages. In addition to having a growing community, crowdSPRING offers satisfaction guarantees with full refunds.

The Bad

  • Fees
  • Relatively expensive
  • Fixed price projects

crowdSPRING’s fees are far higher than any other freelance platform. crowdSPRING explains its fees this way:

“crowdSPRING offers multiple pricing packages within our silver, gold and platinum packages. The award to the Creative is always around 60% of the total which you will pay and this will be visible to you when you select a package. For instance, the Silver package is [$399] which includes an award of [$225] and comes with some of our most popular features.”

crowdSPRING requires members to post project at fixed prices (starting at $299) unlike other freelance platforms where you can set a fixed or hourly rate as low as you’d like. crowdSPRING requires users to pay upfront and in full. crowdSPRING says, “We ask that you pay for your project up front when you post it so that our Creatives know that you aren’t just window shopping.” To hedge against any unhappy clients crowdSPRING offers a strong satisfaction, money back guarantee.

The Bottom Line

crowdSPRING is a niche freelance platform that really provides “creative” services. While crowdSPRING has a solid user base and community we felt their 40% (average) fee was too high. If you’re specifically looking for design project, we recommend checking out crowdSPRING; however, if you’re looking for a broader freelancer and project base we recommend our other top-rated companies.

crowdSPRING collects 40% of payments from the freelancer.

this site is like 99designs at least fro graphic designers. You get the “opportunity” to submit a mockup or design, along with all your friends on there…the client then can “pick” or ask someone for a “redesign” (READ: steal the best ideas) before “choosing” a winner.

My question for anyone here is…YOU don’t work for free right? why should I as a designer?
