Rick Ross Credits CrossFit for Weight Loss
Rapper Rick Ross credits intense CrossFit workouts for his 100-pound weight loss over the course of seven months.
The rapper, who once weighed over 300 pounds, was inspired to make the changes after suffering two seizures in 2011. Both seizures, which occurred on back-to-back flights on the same day, required CPR to revive him.
Ross works out with about 20 people on his crew. The workouts consist of push-ups, Olympic weight training, jump squats, and other exercises, all done in rapid succession for 20 minutes.
“CrossFit overall is more of an intense workout,” said Ross, who calls his workout “RossFit.” “So instead of doing 20 minutes on the treadmill, you’ll do a 20-minute CrossFit workout and you’ll be not only building your endurance, but also muscle simultaneously.”
Several other stars, such as Tim McGraw and Joe Manganiello, credit a combination of CrossFit and the Paleo diet for their weight loss. But unlike the others, Ross didn’t drastically change his diet – just small changes.
“I’m not under no stress of what I’m eating,” he said. “There are no restrictions.”
He still eats his favorite fried Oreos, just less often and in smaller quantities. He’s cut back on soda and alcohol, and he’s cut out bread and white rice. And he no longer eats large meals in the middle of the night.
Ross said he doesn’t have any particular weight-loss goals. The changes he’s made so far have dramatically improved his health, and he’ll continue to do what’s best for “Rozay.”
