Founded on November 15, 2014, Vasa Gym is a Utah-based fitness center chain focused on providing an inspiration fitness experience to all types of consumers, for all skill levels, with a mission to uplift anyone who walks through the doors through fun, happy fitness. Vasa has 23 locations across Utah with a brand promise of having the best gym prices in the state. The word “Vasa” comes from the Latin term for “vessel.” Vasa Fitness currently has over 150,000 gym family members in Utah and opened its doors to eight new facilities in Colorado, one in Kansas, and one in Oklahoma.
Memberships can be purchased as low as $9.99 monthly for the basic plan; however, basic plans do not come with access to fitness classes, group fitness, or personal trainers. For those seeking classes and other amenities such as child care and access to ball courts, intramural activities, and steam rooms, the fitness plus plan at $21.99 monthly would be the best option. If you are interested in taking your fitness to the next level with a number of team training sessions and InBody composition scans, you can invest in the Vasa Fit plan with a monthly fee of $49.99 per month. This plan does not require an initiation fee and the 1st month is free while you make sure that it is something that you are interested in.
It is not uncommon for people to want to be able to bring a friend or family member with them to the gym. Vasa provides the opportunity for members to pay an extra $15.99 per month for unlimited access for guests. Each time that you attend the gym or facility, you are able to bring 2 guests with you. Your guest pass will provide them access to the facility
Child Care is $3.00 per 90 minutes per visit or $10 per month for the first child and $5 per month each additional child added. (It must be set up through automatic billing at the club). There are also additional charges for picking up your child late. Racquetball is complimentary for all Vasa memberships except Basic. An additional $10.00 guest fee will be charged per participant if they are not a VASA Member or if they are a Basic member. Overall, we found Vasa's membership fees to be much more affordable than many of their competitors whose monthly fees can get as high as $150 or more.
There have not been any complaints online regarding upfront fees for any of Vasa's membership packages. We found many gyms require upfront fees upon joining/signing up for a membership with fees as high as $300. With such low monthly fees to begin with, Vasa beats the competition in this regard. Enrollment in the basic membership requires a $49.00 enrollment fee and the fitness and vasa fit plans do not have extra fees.
Each Vasa Fitness center offers independent classes ranging from cycling, pilates, and Zumba, to HIIT, R.I.P.P.E.D. and Power Pump, and water-exercise programs such as aerobics and Zumba. Vasa is the only fitness center offering CardioCinema, allowing runners to watch movies during their workout. Members can enjoy a vast array of fitness options such as aerobic classes, cardio equipment, cardio cinema rooms, free weights and strength training machines, private personal training, and group fitness sessions. Customers across the board are pleased with the number and selection of classes offered.
Exclusive access to personal trainers is available for members at an additional fee. Sessions are 60 minutes and trainers provide education on the use of equipment, cardio exercise, supplements, weight lifting, resistance training, and healthy lifestyle nutrition tips. Vasa takes an innovative approach by using a Visual Fitness Planner which assess the likelihood of contracting various diseases and cancer, calculates chronological age against seven health risk factors determining a "true health age," as well as showing members a 3D image of their bodies' potential change through weight loss and muscle growth.
Another aspect setting Vasa apart is its attempt to make a difference in local communities by charitable donations and programs helping families and individuals get and stay healthy. Vasa offers free weekend passes to anyone coming in, in hopes to attain new clientele. Previously yearly passes have been given to winners of nominated families who communities deem deserving. The gym also provides a blog on its company website educating consumers with healthy tips as well as information on trainers.
Other amenities the company offers at their fitness centers include pool, Jacuzzi, tanning, hot tub, sauna, tennis courts, massage beds, daycare, free weights area, and functional strength training areas. Depending on the location, there may be one or more amenities that are not offered. We found this to be a downside, since the majority of the locations are in the same state/region. A plus is the variety of amenities offered. Many of the fitness centers we reviewed had the basic pool, Jacuzzi, and sauna. The wide variety of amenities that Vasa offers are typically for more expensive high end gyms.
Vasa also charges penalty fees if a member sets up automatic payments and the card used doesn't function properly. A $40 fee will be charged, even while not being under contract. Make sure that your card is working and that you are in touch with customer service if you are concerned with being overcharged. The sooner you get in, the better your chance of being helped. If you are looking to cancel your membership you will be charged $40 on top of the other monthly fees or contract fees that you will need to pay. An annual fee of $39.99 is charged each year which is considered the "rate guarantee fee". Vasa should work to factor these costs into the monthly price instead of making the cancellation process more confusing.
According to several dissatisfied customer complaints scattered on the web, once under contract there is simply no possible way to get out of it, not even with cold hard cash, unless members can provide proof they have moved outside of a 25-mile radius of each of their 33 gym locations. Once proof has been provided, there is still the chance that fees for service during the closing of the account will be charged. When you contact your local gym or Vasa customer service to cancel, make sure that you know exactly you will be required to pay upon cancellation.
Equipment for most Vasa locations is fairly new and the gyms are large and well-maintained. Some customers have complained that there aren't enough machines to handle busy high-traffic hours (i.e. after work crowd). Also, some gym locations have old or broken equipment. For example, one customer complained to the Vasa management on three separate occasions about the broken stationary bikes in their CardioTheater which were Out of Order or in a poor state of functioning. Having to wait to use equipment during rush hours is a common issue we found for many fitness centers in addition to the equipment being old, broken or outdated. This still puts Vasa at less-than-excellent in this area.
Vasa's cleanliness policy states that if a piece of equipment is broken or an area of the gym is not clean, for members to report it to the front desk immediately. Many have complained of the sanitary situation at some facilities stating the floors are covered with dirt and hair for days. Other complaints have been made about safety issues, having power cords and strips showing open wires, providing proof on social media sites. Complaints of doors not opening on time, causing members to request a prorated amount for membership costs. Many members including students have also complained of the hours of operation in Utah County and facilities being closed on Sundays.
I went into the gym by my old house. I let them know I would likely be moving within the month, and instead of giving me good advice, they coerced me into buying a membership with training. They told me if I ended up moving I could simply cancel. What they did NOT tell me is that I would end up going to ONE training session, move, and still have to pay for the next month of membership fees. My total cost ended up being $317.54 for going ONE TIME. The most ridiculous, dishonest bunch of gym hosts I've ever come across. I do not recommend VASA to anyone.
I love my Vasa membership and am always happy when they keep upgrading to free tanning and Hydromassage chairs. I also extend mine to play tennis in the winter in Utah. Great company Gym, there are always helpful people around to answer all my questions and its such a low cost per month for all that you get.
Love Vasa!! The people there are so nice and very helpful with anything you are needing to do! I love going to vasa to workout.
I don’t think it’s right that employees can take their Kiddos to daycare while watching other kids because they get to occupied with there own child instead of watching all the kids equally. The employees are basically getting paid to watch their own kids.
I once went to a cycling class and because of injury I had to leave class early and the teacher called me out in a negative way for leaving the class in front of everyone. Totally unprofessional. The facility is adequate and personal coaching was good but I couldn’t believe that instructor in that class!
Horribly customer service. No communication and when you do it has to be through email only. Try to cancel membership and they bill for an additional month. Sent to collections instead of contacting customer. Will NEVER use them or recommend.

Vasa has lots of great equipment to use. I love the wide open space and variety of machines and equipment offered. However, I do wish a membership was a little cheaper.
While vasa seems like a good deal, they really get you with their fees and lack of care for what the customer wants. My wife and I had issues with signing up when we asked for the basic plan yet were charged with the next plan up even though we were very specific. It felt like the manager was just trying to hit a quota and didn't care that he signed us up for the wrong plan. Overall very unsatisfied with customer relations and the hidden fees. Never going back
I like the facility and classes they offer. But WOW it is expensive. They charge you a ton of money to cancel if you cancel within the first 6 months. It feels like a trap to make you pay a ton of money. Only worth it if you are going to go to the gym at least 2x/week.
My wife and I went online to cancel our membership. We received no confirmation back from the company - that should have been our first warning sign. After several months we were contacted by a collections company. We were never notified that we were going to be sent to collections. This company Intentionally makes it difficult to cancel in an effort to get more money out of its clients. Avoid this gym!
They took advantage of me into paying for things that I didn't have the money for. And it was IMPOSSIBLE to try and cancel once my contract was up. They're absolutely ridiculous and just want every penny out of your pocket. The staff was overly flirty and made me uncomfortable going there. DO NOT SIGN UP FOR VASA ITS A SCAM
Make sure when you cancel you do it in writing get it in writing. They will turn you over to swift llc a collection agency. They did this by mistake to me the agency had a rep that kept saying next payment you are done. She did that twice. I called Paramount whom said they are not a good company they will call so I am finished . Paramount never did. They don't care and Swift llc said you want it off you have to pay. I had canceled the membership. Beware!!! Go to another gym that does not need the money so bad they swindle you.
I’ve been going to Vasa for the past year with my husband. We work out together and the staff are always friendly and supportive. The environment is positive with a wide variety of equipment. They are open daily and their hours are very accommodating whether you enjoy working our day or night.
The equipment is second to none, you can get variety of workouts: swim, basketball, racquetball, weight-training, etc. at a good price.
I bought a premium membership to use their pool but there was no time limit on its use. I would show up to use the pool and the three lanes would be occupied for hours. I complained to management but they said that there was nothing they could do. I therefore did not renew my membership.
The Saratoga location needs better recombinant bikes. They also need a bigger location and a pool.
Can I tell you that Vasa drives me CRAZY!! They tease you with low rates, but then require you to pay an annual fee in addition to your rate. They also make it extremely hard to cancel. The gym I went to had a decent amount of equipment, but for the billing alone, I would look elsewhere.
I love working out at VASA! The facility is always clean and the staff welcoming and knowledgeable. The classes available are fun and are at perfect times. There is a great number of cardio equipment, machines and free weights to choose from. Very affordable and a fun environment to get fit.
Vasa is a good gym with lots of excellent equipment and classes. I prefer to use a gym in the winter when the weather is cold and I cannot get into the mountains to get my exercise. I like being able to use the month by month plan rather than full year subscription. It works great for me. Their customer service isn't very easy to use. It's easy to sign up for a workout plan but it's a huge hassle to quit a plan when you're done using it.
I'm not a Vasa customer but I'm going to Vasa some times with friends. I really like the environment, place is clean and people that work there are really helpful and friendly.
Great gym, great equipment, great trainers and amazing membership prices. I 100% feel that Vasa offers the best product for the best price hands down. The staff is very knowledgeable and helpful. I would recommend Vasa to anyone looking for a quality gym.
I Had a membership with Vasa. Friendly sale people, multiple locations to workout. Great classes and instructors. Also very inexpensive .
The people that work at Vasa are awesome. I love working out and being with others who are driven to be fit.
Vasa Fitness is an awesome place to go workout and get in shape. It has the best equipment to use.
Vasa is the greatest because of the variety of classes that are offered there. I'm not super motivated to go to the gym by myself and do a self-disciplined workout, but I will participate in fitness classes for days!
I’ve always been happy with my Vasa membership. I think they offer many options to fit all fitness levels. The classes they offer are also high quality. Their locations are clean and well kept with working equipment.
I have enjoyed working out at VASA. The gym in my area is very nice. The monthly price is very good. I like all of the classes that they offer. There is always a great variety for my wife. She likes that they are always offering new types of classes
I visit VASA six days a week. I like the convenience and amenities. The cardio work out room with the treadmills is my favorite.
VASA is a great value. It has all the equipment that I could use, plus great class options. I feel like I get more than I pay!
Awesome! When I was looking for a gym I just wanted a gym that was clean, good equipment and affordably priced. I found all 3 with Vasa. Their customer service is great and I have always enjoyed working out there.
Vasa would be a five star review for me, if I wasn't so shy. I feel a bit intimidated when I have a whole bunch of people around me working out as well. The facilities they have are awesome though! Nothing wrong with the equipment or layout of their facilities, just the people packed in. Pretty good price point.
Great Gym, Inexpensive, nice staff. I have had memberships at a handful of different gyms and Vasa is all around the best one. I feel like the very inexpensive membership compared to the quality of their equipment is what sets them apart.
I think VASA is a good gym. They are normally a very big location so it is definitely a little impersonal compared to the smaller gyms. But they are normally organized and clean. The monthly price is very good. I like the group classes that are available.
I think vasa is an okay gym. It is overrated but it is really the only option in my area. I wish they were more affordable.
Vasa gets the job done. Very practical with lots of machines and weights to use. A variety of classes offered. Its kind of dark, not many windows but the price is very affordable.
I was very disappointed with this company. I had a membership with VASA for just shy of one year. They have no cancellation fees after the first six months. However, when I went to cancel my membership after 11 months I was charged for the next month plus and extra $30.00. When I asked why they responded that I was responsible for paying my "annual fee" They would not refund my money and they were very rude. I would never send anyone to VASA.
A fair price for a lot of perks. I love the childcare, hot tubs, massages etc. I also love love love the cardio cinema rooms!! It made running so much more enjoyable.
The gym in Saratoga Springs is too crowded, they don't have the same equipment as the larger Vasas in the valley, and there is ALWAYS broken equipment.
Been a member for over 5 years, gyms are great, depending on the locations, some are definitely better than others. I like to smaller ones sometimes, they're closer and more convenient to my place of work, although sometimes they get crowded. overall good experience.
Vasa offers great facilities and updated equipment. I feel like they are always trying to come up with ways to keep your experience new and refreshing. They do a good job of keeping their facilities clean. Great gym especially for the cost.

The current VASA that Is closest to my location is awfully small. A bit overcrowded at times. Although the equipment is good and clean, it's crowded. Wish I didn't have to wait around for my turn as lots of people are also all trying to use the machines.
I enjoy going to the gym. Vasa makes it easy for anyone to go to the gym at different levels. You can pay for everything or just pay for access to the treadmill. I love that they have a child care option too.
The only complaint I have for vasa is how crowded it is. I love the variety of machines and different facilities (sana, steam room, pool, tanning, basketball courts, etc.) but it can get very busy very fast. It is the gym I go to and I love going because the environment is good and the machines are clean. The workers are also very nice and helpful!
I go to vasa almost everyday and I love it there. it’s a stress and judgement free environment and it’s so easy to get into a good rhythm
The VASA I go to is very small for the large community. The price is right for memberships but then it gets overcrowded. Recumbent bikes are not comfortable.
Prices are fantastic, but the gym facility is just okay. The classes were fine, my biggest issue was the daycare. They had limited space so if I didn’t set up an appointment for my kids a week in advance I couldn’t get them in, so I was constantly missing my favorite classes and definitely couldn’t just go whenever I wanted. I would probably recommend to anybody that doesn’t need to use the daycare.
I'm not really sure the difference between Vasa and Gold's gym since Vasa took over Gold's gym, but the service seems similar. They are very busy at certain times but enjoy their variety of machines.
To be quite honest I love going here because of the tanning bed! As well as the awesome and affordable price every month! Pretty sanitary as well.
I go to vasa every single day! That’s how much I love this place. They have all the perfect excercise needs. I have always loved the guest service the employees deliver!
I go to vasa every morning to do my morning work outs and they have such amazing equipment so I can work every part of my body. The membership is well worth the price and I depend on them for my exercise every day.
