Snap Fitness was founded in Chanhassen, Minnesota by Peter Taunton, who was dedicated to providing members with “more value than any other health and wellness club.” Snap Fitness has received many fitness gym awards, ranking #35 for the Franchise 500 award as well as an Entrepreneur of the Year award given to the founder. This company is an exercise and fitness industry leader with over 1,050 facilities located across the United States and several others worldwide. Each Snap Fitness location is open 24 hours a day, allowing all members access when they need it. No matter what your age, gender, fitness level, or ambition, Snap Fitness is there to help you meet your fitness goals and improve your overall health and well-being.
Membership pricing to join snap fitness varies by location since each Fitness club is individually owned and operated. The gym offers month-to-month memberships with no contracts. Snap Fitness is one of the few fitness clubs that advertise their membership rates. One adult membership is $44.95/month; two adults (couples) are $69.95/month; and a family membership is $89.95/month. After comparing Snap Fitness prices to other national and regional gym chains, we found these prices to be competitive. Quite a few gyms have similar or higher fees over $100/month.
We like Snap Fitness's 30-day refund policy, which guarantees if members do not see a difference in body structure, or feel more energized, they will be issued a full refund. We did not see this with other fitness chains; however, the gym requires members to visit and workout at the club of their choice at least two times per week for four weeks, as well as attend a Fitness score from a personal trainer. In order to ensure members are satisfied, Snap Fitness is now offering a 30-day trial pass for $8.95, available online only. For each trial pass purchased, Snap Fitness donates $1 to the Folds of Honor Foundation, a nonprofit organization that gives scholarships to the spouses and children of military officers who were either disabled or killed in service.
Once members enroll in this trial period, a computerized access card will be delivered in 8-14 business days. After speaking with a local Snap gym manager, it was stated that members of this trial offer has a time stamp: members are required to visit a local facility to receive a Global Access Card in order to start training right away. The favorable component is that this Global Access Card provides members access to any facility across the United States and Canada.
We looked for any hidden fees and checked with members online to see if they encountered any of these types of fees, and found that once they pay the one-time program fee and access card fee, there are no hidden costs that pop up out of nowhere.
Snap Fitness's facilities offer cardio equipment, weight machines, strength training equipment, free weights, cable stations, and a variety of other assorted equipment in the group training room. Group fitness and training is available at certain locations and is run by a staff member or a fitness instructor. Members can feel safe as they walk through the doors using their secured access cards; however, there are some online reviews that complain about untidy locker rooms in certain Snap Fitness gyms, and in some locations the cardio machines often squeak and are not maintained quickly enough for a 24/7 customer base.
Snap Fitness offers a clean, modern facility. Overall, customers feel that most Snap Fitness gyms are well-kept. There are personnel who are assigned to clean areas of the gyms like shower rooms and gym equipment.
Snap offers a unique feature: Free fitness score assessment sessions to assess your cardio, strength, endurance and flexibility that give you baseline results to help you to effectively set goals. Another aspect setting this fitness chain apart is access to personal online accounts where workouts and meal plans may be tracked and tailored to suit individual needs and nutritional goals. Snap Fitness also has an open Facebook page for Snap Fitness members to access announcements, specials, instructors fitness tips, recipes, etc. Perhaps the biggest highlight is Snap's personal training memberships for those wanting personal training.
Across the board, Snap personal trainers and instructors are highly regarded by gym members. To be a trainer at Snap, you have to be certified by the National Association of Sports Medicine. To encourage employees to become certified, Snap offers them a discount on their certification program. When contrasted with other national fitness centers, Snap has an advantage due to their detailed nutritional training. We did not find many gyms offering this feature. It is common for gyms to have members raving about the excellent personal trainers-though many find the personal training sessions to be expensive. With Snap Fitness, additional pricing does not appear to be an area of contention according to customers.
When you sign up for a membership, Snap Fitness charges a one-time program fee of $49 (standard fee is $129). The gym also charges a $20.00 Access Card Fee that is charged with your first billing period. Your access card gives you 24/7 access to every Snap Fitness location. Once enrollment is set up, you will receive your membership card in the mail, so you can head straight to the gym when you receive it. When lined up against other fitness center competitors, Snap Fitness is advertised as lower than most gyms, but in reality its sign-up fees put Snap Fitness on-par with the average going rate for gym memberships.
It is unfavorable that Snap does not list specific classes individually so new members know what classes the gym they're about to join offers, which would be a determining factor in signing up for a membership. It is also unfavorable that Snap Fitness's live group fitness classes come with an additional fee instead of being included in the membership fee (the way most gyms offer). Also unfavorable is offering on-demand classes you can watch by video, which defeats the purpose of joining a gym in the first place-to take live classes. The gym has both live classes with an additional fee, or your regular membership includes access to over 100 video classes with its Fitness on Demand program. Although its on-demand video classes are a unique feature, this review does not find it to be an advantage. Some customers feel there is not enough AC in the summer making the gym stiflingly hot, while being overheated in the winter. Bathrooms have been said to run out of toilet papers often.
One challenge of being able to enjoy a consistent exercise schedule as a parent is finding a gym that offers childcare services. Unfortunately, not all Snap Fitness facilities offer childcare services. Not only do a small number of its locations provide childcare services, but it is very difficult to find out which ones do when researching online. If this is going to be a deal breaker for you when selecting a gym that you would like to attend, then this is most likely not the gym for you.
Super poor management on El Paso N. Zaragosa location. Aug. 15, 2019- 7 out of 15 tv monitors out of service. 2 tread mill machines out of service. Only 3 bottles of sanitizing liquid to wipe down equipment ect. in the entire locaton!! Super hot, probably AC broke. Same plastc bottle on top of AC duct for at lest 2 years. (no cleaning being done) Will cancel soon.
The facilities are not bad... but the customer service is horrendous. Stay away. It has been probably 20 hours of work on my part and over 8 months trying to cancel my wife's membership and then get a refund for the months they wouldn't cut off our monthly charge after we canceled. They owe us $244. No one will apologize for their mistakes and no one will give me the refund. I've spoken or met with the manager, the owner, the regional director, and headquarters. 8 months later... the charges have finally stopped but they will not give me the full refund. Stay away.
The price is pretty decent for the services offered. My only complaint is the cleanliness of the machines and building itself.
Snap fitness is one of the greatest gyms out there. I have never found a better gym yet. The facilities are great and so are the staff.
satisfaction in all area.all type of fitting exercise equipment available.easy to operate.
Snap fitness is a great place to go when wanting a good workout. They have great quality equipment, and has a good and clean environment.
This is probably the cleanest gym I have ever worked out at. The staff is super friendly, and the membership is worth the price. I would prefer this gym over any other.
Snap Fitness provides a small convenient facility that doesn't have any pressure that larger gyms can have. Great if you have one close to you and have a schedule that only allows you to swing by at different times.
Snap Fitness is good if you find your self-working out at odd times of the day. Other than that that their equipment is well maintained, but the there facility is small and can get crowded at busy times.
