Sage was founded in 1981 by David Goldman, who wanted to automate accounting processes in his own business. He worked with a team of Newcastle University students to develop software to make it happen. In 1998, Sage came to North America with the acquisition of desktop accounting software, Peachtree. Today, Sage has 13,000 employees and serves millions of customers in 23 countries across mainland Europe, Africa, Australia, Asia, and Latin America.

The Good

  • Time in Business
  • Product and Services
  • Business Features

Time in Business

Sage has been providing its software to the customer since 1981. Over the years, they have improved their software based on the need and wants of their users. They have gained the trust and confidence of their customers by providing simple and convenient ERP software system.

Product and Services

The following are some of the different types of software Sage offers:

Sage One is a cloud-based accounting and invoice management solution for small businesses. Sage One manages all the documentation and processes required in business payments such as price quotes, estimates, statements, and invoices.

Sage Live is a web-based and mobile ready accounting platform for small and mid-sized businesses. The system can be used to create and send invoices, accept payments, pay bills, and record receipts and sales all from within a platform accessible from anywhere with Internet connectivity.

Sage X3 is an enterprise business management software suite that includes integrated functionality for financial management, sales, customer service, distribution, inventory, and manufacturing, and business intelligence.

Sage Intacct delivers users an array of core accounting applications such as general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, cash management, and order management.

Sage People enables midsize to enterprise companies to manage their workforces through its cloud HCM system. It allows organizations to transform how they acquire, engage, manage and develop their people, from a local to multinational scale.

Business Features

Sage specializes in business management software. Their products can be categorized by business size, industry and business area. Under the business size you can choose from startup, small business, growing business and enterprise. Also, you can choose from categories such as accounting, business management, payroll, and payments. Some of the business industries that are covered by Sage software includes chemical, construction, food and beverages, manufacturing, non-profit organizations, and wholesale distribution.

The Bad

  • Limited Information
  • Customer Support

Limited Information

Unfortunately, Sage software website provides very limited information on their pricing and length of contracts. Their corporate website doesn’t disclose how much each software program will cost. Also, contract length is not specified. This information is critical to the user.

Customer Support

Sage offers many helpful and advanced features, but customer support is not one of them. Their website support page doesn’t provide a lot of information on where you need to call or email when you might have an issue with your software.

The Bottom Line

Sage has been offering its ERP software to businesses of all sizes for over 35 years. Sage offers a wide variety of products and services to their customers. No matter the size, industry or area of your business you will be able to find the right software system with Sage. However, limited pricing information and limited customer support contact information is one of the reasons customers choose other ERP software providers.

Not sure what version we were using but this reminds be of dos software. It for the most part is very easy to use so if your not a big business I’m sure it would be perfect.
