The management team with the company, according to their website, has decades of e-commerce experience, delivering the best e-commerce product for their customers. They provide e-commerce technology and consulting services for hundreds of enterprise-level software and cloud companies. CleverBridge stands out in the industry because most of their business customers sell digital products. From their website, we can tell that CleverBridge has been very active on the global marketplace. They recently won a Top 100 award from Red Herring in Europe and also sell many of their e-commerce solutions to European customers. The Good

We found that CleverBridge has some unique features as part of their e-commerce platform. We found that this e-commerce platform has several features that help you with merchandising your visual store, as well as billing.

Opportunities for Merchandising

As part of their merchandising solution, we found that CleverBridge includes the following features:

  • Promotions and Discounts: You can make promotions on your e-store for new product launches, holidays, and during marketing campaigns.
  • In-App Purchases: When using CleverBridge’s solutions, your customers can buy a “better” version of your product, unlocking more sales opportunities for your business.
  • Responsive Design: Each e-store built by CleverBridge features responsive design, creating a beautifully streamlined online shopping experience, whether your customers are using a computer or a smart device.
Mobile Management and Testing/Optimization

On CleverBridge’s website, we saw some mobile management capabilities demonstrated on a smart tablet. The multivariate testing tool (MVT) can be used to optimize your e-store. You can use this tool to manage your cart configurations, messaging, pricing, and marketing campaigns. We didn’t see a tool demonstrated on other companies within the industry.

Commerce Assistant

This is the “base camp” for your e-store. It has a sleek UI and powerful functionality. Here, you will create new products, manage your prices, offer promotions, edit your customer subscriptions, and more. Here, you will find a simulator that lets you test page layouts and let you bulk manage your promotions for key customer segments. This application gives you powerful control over your e-store, letting you sell products and create incentive for returning customers.

Powerful Payment Methods

With CleverBridge, you don’t need to worry about whether or not they can handle your payment method. We found more than 40 different PCI compliant payment methods. These include all the standard credit cards, traditional payment methods, country-specific credit cards, and more. CleverBridge even supports standard B2B payment methods, such as invoices and purchase orders.

Subscription Management Potentials

One of the nice things about subscription management with CleverBridge is that this e-platform helps you keep your best customers. Your business can get customers with your freemium downloads and provide promotions for license changes with customers. Essentially, CleverBridge gives your digital customers the ability to scale up or down as they please.

API and Third-Party Integrations

With CleverBridge’s years of technical expertise and a full set of APIs, their e-commerce solutions can work with your existing CRM, ERP, analytics setup, email platform, and other applications.

Turnaround Time

One of the big concerns we had with large enterprise-level e-commerce providers is that the turnaround time is rather slow. With Hybris, it takes 3-4 months to get your e-store up and running. On their website, CleverBridge says that they can get your store up and running in just a few weeks.

Developer Portal

We found that the development portal with CleverBridge had a lot of different explanations for further enhancing your business website. All the code examples needed to update your e-store are provided on the CleverBridge development portal.

The Bad

We think that CleverBridge is a perfect e-commerce solution for digital product providers. We did have a few concerns, however, that are common with the larger providers in the e-commerce industry.

Where Are the Prices?

With Oracle, we did find a complete pricing list for the various e-commerce solutions that they offer. However, with CleverBridge, the only pricing information that we could find was a call-to-action to get a quote.

Managing Digital Products

With some of the e-commerce platforms out there that support digital products, we saw the ability to control certain aspects of the product:

  • The length of time a customer could access a digital product.
  • Access to upgrades and later versions of a digital product.
  • Control of freemium versions of a product.

While we’re pretty confident that CleverBridge has got this figured out, we would like to see it better explained on the website.

The Bottom Line

We think that CleverBridge is a gem for medium- to enterprise-level companies that sell digital products. They do a great job of empowering B2B and B2C sales and have some of the most versatile payment options (40+) of any e-commerce provider in the industry.

Another thing that we liked about CleverBridge was the focus on analytics. We felt that the MVT tool is a great way to manage and test your e-store on either your computer or a smart device. The Commerce Assistant also lets you upgrade your catalog, making better product catalogs and descriptions for your customers.
