Google, as it has done several times before, made a joke out of Google Maps. I don't know how long it will last but, as of now, you can still turn various areas on the globe into a game of Pac Man. In years past, the world was a "Legend of Zelda", pixelly, Nintendo world.
Amazon chose to pay tribute to its humble beginnings by reverting its homepage back to what it looked like it 1999. The internet was much simpler back then. Amazon sported a serif font and listed best-selling stuff on its homepage, in a simple layout. Yesterday, everyone thought their new Dash Button was a joke, but it is not. It's real!
Groupon chose to promote a bizarre but hilarious fictional car hire service. Not an ordinary cab service, though. Their "Grøüber" service connects you to cats that drive you around. "Laser-guided cats." I don't know what that means. I could explain this in greater detail, but I would suggest you just watch the video.
Unlike Grøüber, Uber is a real company that makes it easy for anybody to become a cabbie (Not cats. Not just yet.) Their smartphone app is for easily calling those cabbies to a certain location to pick up passengers. Uber Thailand made fun of the current flooding situation in Bangkok, saying it would offer boat transport services that would operate in the water on the streets. Those Thais, they have the best kind of humor.
Lastly, The Sun pranked us all by falsely reporting that Simon Cowell is going to be on the new £5 bill. Yea, seems like those of us who would believe it are the readers this tabloid wants. You have to register on their website to read the full, ridiculous story. Count me out.
