Do you shop online? If you do, odds are you’ll give Jet a try later this year. Why? The man behind it, Marc Lore, has already created a successful e-commerce business that was sold to Amazon, his former employer, for $545 million.  It was called Quidsi and it’s the parent company of diapers.com now. More importantly, though, Marc says Jet will give you better deals than the current leaders in online shopping currently offer, on all kinds of goods. He convinced investors that his idea is likely to be a success, raising hundreds of millions of dollars.

So, how will you get these amazing prices? Jet adjusts prices in real time, as users fill their carts, and makes suggestions based on the prices you’ll get.  If you’re not too picky, you should end up with a good deal.  Shipping will be low-cost if you don’t wander too far from Jet’s suggestions because the website’s technology takes your location into account when it crunches the numbers. Jet says you can choose retailers that can ship all of your items (or as many as possible) in one box, to save money. You’ll also receive a discount if you waive the option to return the goods. Choose a low-cost payment method and save even more. All these savings are in addition to the great price you start out with.

At the moment, if you visit jet.com, you won’t be able to shop.  However, you can sign up for a free 6-month membership. When that opportunity expires, new users will have to pay an annual fee. Mr. Lore says the shopping experience Jet provides will be transparent and empowering, in addition to being thrifty, justifying that fee.
