The Good

  • Experience
  • Security
  • Manageability
  • Pricing

It is the largest DNS in the world, handling more than 400 billion requests each day.

  • Experience: Though the DNS service hasn't been a player in the industry for a great deal of time, Google is one of the most recognizable brands in the world. Its products permeate the lives of countless people worldwide. With its vast resources and access to the latest in technology and innovation, Google can ensure its DNS service is at the cutting edge of this ever-changing industry.
  • Security: Google DNS has measures to document and protect against cache poisoning. It also has ways to guard against threats that route web pages from legitimate servers to malicious ones.
  • Manageability: The Google DNS interface has the user in mind. There is a setup option where the uses can use a command line interface, or the user can use the RESTful API to create his or her own interface that meets specific needs.
  • Pricing: Pricing is based on number of queries and zones per month. The pricing for the quality of product the customer will get is a tremendous value.

Customers would be hard pressed to find a more comprehensive customer service. Customers have four levels of service to choose from, each having varying features. Customers can contact for billing issues, technical issues, or a number of other matters. Support is available 24 hours per day, seven days a week.

The Bad

  • Customer service
  • Government actions

Customer service does cost. In fact, depending on the level of support one wishes to purchase, customers could pay $150 per month or even $400 per month or more. Response times for some issues can be frustratingly long, sometimes up to four hours or more.

Additionally, it is reported that there are government actions against Google. As enormous a company it is and as popular pervasive as it is, the giant is not without challenges and things customers should be leery of before doing business.

The Bottom Line

Google DNS is simply too good to pass up. The product offerings are plentiful, the service, those pricey, is top-notch, and the quality of the product, as one can imagine beats just about anything out in the industry. There is without questions a must-try for your Internet service needs.
