If you miss a payment because you have been laid off or something else, they can throw away the agreement and you have to start all over even if you have paid most of what was agreed upon beforehand. I have lost several thousand dollars because I got laid off during the pandemic and I missed a payment by like 2 days. It is now going to take two years longer than originally stated to get out of the program, it is not a good feeling. When I called originally they were incredible kind and knowledgeable and I made the best decision I could at the time but I no wish had done a little more research.

Also when it may feel like accounts are taking too long to reach a settlement, it's due to our negotiations wanting to make sure they get the best settlement for the clients. They don't want to just go off the first settlement the creditor provides because it can still be too high and we want to make sure client is saving fair enough amount on those accounts.
