I went for months not being able to get on the dashboard. Every time I called and asked why, I got a totally different answer. I called for months trying to get on the dashboard so I could see where I was and how my bills were doing. The right hand doesn't know what the left hand is doing. I got a different answer from about 20-25 customer service staff. They are NOT trained very well and didn't know what they were talking about. Very poor service and information that they were giving out I felt that I was "thrown under the bus". Once FDR had me and were trying to pay off my bills, they didn't care about me any more. I tried to talk to supervisors and other staff for MONTHS but no one cared. VERY POOR!

We joined FDR in 2017 and was given an estimated length of 48 months or less to graduate the program with hefty bi weekly Payments of $371. Now 2 years into the program and FDR already taking their fees of around $6000.00 we are told our graduation date is now May of 2023!!! That’s 6 years in this program!!! Definitely not 48 months or less. I’m feeling like this was a big mistake!

Freedom was doing an excellent job for us until recently. There was a HUGE clerical error or information sharing that went from having a settlement and having payments and the settlement fee deducted from our account for 3 months to having a non compliance lawsuit against us. I personally called numerous times and was told by NLLG that they couldn't help us, told by Freedom that we needed to call the bank where the dedicated account is and we needed to get that information to the bank suing us and also were told to add an additional $8,000 to our dedicated account to begin the process again. After dealing with all the parties involved and authorizing the release of the funds to the appropriate institution. I was able to get resolution. It was extremely maddening and stressful. And to make matters more complex, the thousands of dollars in settlement fees were deducted in one payment, jeopardizing my payments on other accounts. We have done everything we were supposed to do and Freedom dropped the ball on this one. We were very frustrated and angry with the manner in which this situation was handled.

I was told in the beginning that it would take 2 years for my credit card debt to be taken care of. So far, all that has happened is my credit score has plummeted and only one of my creditors has been contacted about a settlement. I was told my credit score would only go down for a few months. I was under the impression that all of my creditors would be contacted immediately and a portion of my monthly payment would go to each creditor. Not just paying one off at a time. This has not been the experience I was anticipating. I will not recommend this program to anyone.

$13,122.00 Paid to them. $8,315 Paid to creditors. Lowest settlement they got was 40%, now that I'm doing it myself I get 35% without even trying. What's frustrating is they charge their fee on original debt. Where's the incentive to get a good settlement? If you're paying them to settle debts than they should at least negotiate to have creditor remove negative reports when offered 48%. They negotiated 5 of my accounts. 2 at 48%, 1 at 45% and 2 at 40%. The only reason I used them was to work and not worry about this stuff but I'd still get collection calls and letters. Collectors would tell me they refuse to work with Freedom... I wish I saw this review, it just didn't provide the peace of mind I thought it would and I'd have 2 big accounts paid off by now instead of just one of my big accounts due to paying freedom to settle debts at a mediocre rate, not communicate and not contact all my creditors with a game plan for the future. Bottom line is if you have half a brain you can handle your stuff better than they can with minimal effort. Also, after paying them thousands of dollars to settle 5 accounts and removing the rest my Freedom account was closed. No summary or information for me to use to clean up my credit report. Felt kicked to the curb. P.S. I had technical issues with their website account often.

As many have stated, they started out great and seemed to be well worth the money. However, over the past 8 months they seem to have fallen apart. After supposedly negotiating a settlement with my Discover Card, I was informed that they had "mde an error on their end and that they would take care of negotiating a new settlement and pay any differences. The next thing I know, after dozens of calls and emails (I have the complete email chain) I get a notice from Discover at the beginning of this year (2019), right around Tax Time that they have charged off my account. This is way harder on my credit score than a successfully paid off settlement. Not only that, but when I ask if the funds collected for the Discover payoff could be applied to my one remaining credit card (a BofA) I was told "No, that will have to wait until the BofA is paid off and then you will receive a refund if one is due to you." That doesn't even make sense. When I checked the details of my payoffs and where my money was going I saw $3 per month going to "Phone" Charges. No one ever mentioned "Phone" charges. There were other unusual payouts as well. The offices of FDR are supposed to be in San Mateo, CA but now their website says they have moved to Phoenix, Arizona. I have written numerous emails to one counselor, who has stopped responding way back in late April. If she has left the company, you would think that someone would at least be checking her company emails and responding to the client she had. Nothing. In short, whatever they were, and however well things may be going for some, there are many of us who have been really hung out to dry. Supposedly I have until November before my entire account is paid off. If I don't hear from them before that, I will go to the BBB and the Consumer Protection Agency with a valid complaint. Let the Buyer beware!

Shortly after signing up with FDR, after experiencing several problems, I realized it was not the program for me and cancelled. I asked about a refund of the over $2,000 I had deducted from my bank account, and I was told it was paid to the creditors. When those two creditors started harassing me for payment, I called FDR numerous times and sent numerous letters, at first asking for proof these had been paid. Every person I encountered was rude and no one would help. I demanded a refund of the money I paid and I was told to get a lawyer. Two years later and still no resolution. FDR is horrible!

They told me that they would pay on each creditor at one time and that my credit score would improve. Instead they waited 6 months and settled one small account then waited until I had my account built up, settled with the largest amount account, helping themselves to over $1,000 for their fee. Meanwhile it’s been 14 months, I have 5 accounts in a “strategic” holding pattern. My credit scores are in the crapper. I tried to apply for a reverse mortgage to pay my off my back taxes and because FDR has ruined my credit worse than it was before, I was turned down flat. The reason given was what FDR has done to me. I will probably loose the home I have lived in for the past 43 years! DO NOT GIVE THESE PEOPLE YOUR BUSINESS 🥵 Update: FDR responded to my rating, they said they wanted to reach out to me. They NEVER DID! Typical BS. In my estimation, this is further proof that these people are all talk and no action! Stay away from them!!!

Its a SCAM and the fees are outrageous. You can do this yourself for FREE and get a better deal than they claim to get you. They took 15000 dollars from me and paid off 7000 of actual credit card debt. When I call them outraged they said the rest of the money went towards their "fees". They also dont disclose this upfront nor do they tell you it will destroy your credit by doing this. This will show up as a charge off on your credit report which is just as bad as a BK. Deal directly with your creditors they will give you a better deal. When I did that I saved myself 4K and could have paid off the debt in half the time. It literally took me 5 minutes to settle 24k in debt to 11K with Capital one. They ripped me off for 7500 dollars then when I cancelled they sent me an email stating that I was still liable for debts not settled through them.

I apologize in advance for this lengthy and thorough review. FirstFirst of all, I always try to give everyone the benefit of the doubt. I read reviews, and I understand that everybody's experience can differ significantly. So I was willing to follow the program to get out of his crushing debt. I work with particular clients that a bankruptcy would be viewed as extremely harmful. So I decided to take the debt consolidation route to satisfy my ability to make a living and to pay back what I could of the debt, I owed. I received a summons from the courthouse to appear for a warrant in debt. As for the protocol I immediately informed FDR of the summons and simultaneously signed up for the legal representation from the national litigation law group. The law firm was recommended to me to help with legal negotiations while FDR completed the contractual negotiations. Twenty days later and with that in a court appearance looming there has been no contact with the creditor. To me, this appears some rather odd, how can you negotiate with a creditor without contacting them in some form or fashion. During my many conversations with customer service, I was informed that I just needed to add more money to the account. The strange thing is no one can tell me how much to add to my account or what the magic number should be or if the negotiators even see a potential of settlement. I'm writing this review, not to put a wholly negative light on FDR, they have been responsive, and their customer service albeit couldn't help the was friendly and courteous, and the dashboard and the site are transparent as to monies received and General Communications. However, there is a lack of transparency as to the negotiation tactics and communication correspondence between the negotiations department and creditors. My recommendation is to keep the negotiation channels open with the creditors and subsequently allow FDR to work in conjunction with your efforts.

I wish I had known before I started this whole debt settlement process, how horrible of a process it is. If I had known at the beginning what I know now, I would never have pursued this option. It is by far the worse choice I have ever made in my entire life. I was told at the beginning of this process that it wouldn’t take more than 3 years to settle and resolve all my debts and now i’m being told it could take at least 4 1/2 years. Who wants to go thru this kind of craziness for almost 5 years. The customer service at FDR, aren’t true customer service people, here for the clients, I have dealt with more rude comments or responses to emails than I even want to talk about. The fees that FDR charges are incredibly high and it takes way too long to settle anything. By the time this process is actually completed, I will have paid more than my beginning credit card balances were in full. As a client, we should be told up front how long it really takes to resolve these debts and it should be the 200% truth. Promising a client it will be solved and done in 3 years and then being told a year into the process it might actually take almost 5 years is completely unacceptable. If I had been told up front it would take 5 years, I would have told them they are nuts and never agreed to it.

Started great but now my payments will go past what they told me when I signed up and I keep getting summonses for accounts that have not been negotiated yet. Also the fees they are taking make the total I have to pay about the same as the amount I started with so really not much in savings

When initially enrolling in your program, Larry, the representative informed me that it would take 3 years to settle my debts. Here we are 4 years later and there has been 3 additional years tacked on. There is an affiliate company who attempted to get me to take out a loan to pay off the debt and then pay them back using the same payment amount FDR used so it appears that I will not save any money but FDR has made enough money off of me and wants their affiliate company to be able to make money off of me as well.
