Christian Credit Counselors (CCC) is a non-profit agency that has been in business for over 25 years. By providing credit counseling and debt consolidation services, the organization has been able to help over 300,000 Americans get out of debt. CCC has relationships with over 400 creditors in the nation. The company claims that its unique approach combining prayer, step-by-step guidance, and educational resources helps clients get out of debt up to 80 percent faster than normal.
The organization offers average fees in the business and is certified by the FCAA. On the downside, the company is not licensed in every state, is not ISO certified, and is not accredited with the NFCC.
- 26 years in business
- FCAA Certification
- Certified credit counselors
With a free consultation that CCC offers, the company also has certified credit counselors on staff to help work with clients through each step toward financial freedom. These are individuals who you can trust. Certified credit counselors have to take courses and pass tests to prove that their credit knowledge is up to par and up to date. The certified credit counselors are able to help customers find the best course of action for their debt situation.
Good Samaritan Program
One unique aspect about CCC is that they offer what is called a "Good Samaritan Program." The program is essentially a free 6-week financial course to help provide consumers with the right tools to create the foundation for financial success. The program is similar to other programs offered by other companies, except that all of the resources and the program itself are completely free. Other companies will often charge a lot of money for these kinds of programs.
- Possible cancellation fee
- No ISO certification
- No NFCC accreditation
- Only licensed in 36/50 states
We were not able to find whether or not CCC charges a cancellation fee or not. Many other top companies do not have a cancellation fee if a client decides not to continue the program.
No NFCC Accreditation
While the company is certified by the Financial Counseling Association of America (FCAA), CCC does not hold an accreditation with the NFCC certifications. This is another accreditation organization in the industry to help ensure quality services. The company also does not hold an ISO certification
Not Available In Every State
The most important thing to keep in mind with CCC is that they are not available in every state, currently only being licensed in 36 of them: AL, AK, AZ, AR, CA, CO, DC, FL, GA, HI, IL, IN, IA, KY, LA, MA, MI, MN, MS, MO, NE, NM, NC, ND, OH, OK, OR, PA, SC, SD, TN, TX, VA, WA, WV and WY.

The Bottom Line
CCC may be a good fit for customers that live within the 36 states where they operate, they offer reasonable fees and years of experience. If you qualify, it might also be a good idea to take advantage of their Good Samaritan Program. With that said, their lack of accreditations is not troubling, but consumers should be aware. Additionally, we would like to see the company be a little more transparent with its information. The bottom line is that there are many other companies that offer better rates and availability than CCC does at present. Overall, we don't recommend Christian Credit Counselors at this time.
