Silversea Cruises boast a casual upscale environment with plenty of room for travelers to move around in comfort. There is no waiting in lines and guests have described the service delivered by staff as stellar. Wine flows freely at mealtime, and guests enjoy unlimited alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages as part of the all-inclusive packages offered by these luxury ocean liners.
- Great amenities
- Dining options
- Additional accommodations
Enrichment lectures are provided on almost all of the cruises and deliver cultural insights concerning the destinations visited during the cruise and the people of these exotic locales. Bridge and golf instructors are onboard to help travelers brush up on their skills. Each ocean liner also features a well-stocked library, fitness center, and spa.
The ships do feature small casinos nearby adjacent nightclubs and lounges. Themed cruises are available from time to time as well. Most of the time, guests are left to their own devices to relax however they see fit and also to socialize with one another over a few cocktails. Standard amenities typically include:
- Butler Service in Every Suite
- Fine Dining
- Beauty Salon
- Fitness Center
Open-seating is available for lunch and dinner, which are served at specific times each day. Alternative dining options are also available with reservations. Extra charges will apply for dining in the specialty restaurants. Full dinners can be delivered course by course directly to your room as well. Unique amenities (which may vary based on the ship booked) include the following:
- Complimentary Beverages
- Gratuities Included in Fare
- Open-Seating Dining Options
- Complimentary Expedition Gear
All accommodations no matter the room size come with a butler who is at your service throughout the length of the cruise. He will be more than happy to draw your bath, arrange a cocktail party for you and other guests, clean your luggage, and act as your concierge.

Champagne is available upon request. Other amenities include Egyptian cotton linens, pillow menu, binoculars, umbrella, and Wi-Fi.
Rest Assured Program
Silversea's Rest Assured Program provides a 100 percent Cruise Credit on any and all charges paid including air, pre- and/or post-cruise hotel and land programs (less any penalties incurred by Silversea such as airline, hotel or tour operator cancellation fees), which may be applied toward a future Silversea cruise. Additional restrictions may apply.
- No family entertainment
- Lack of security
No Family Entertainment
There are no organized programs for children or teenagers. As a result, families will not enjoy cruises on board the Silversea liners, as there is little to keep them entertained. Cruise prices are expensive year round due to the all-inclusive packages, so cruises on these ships may not be a good fit for those on a budget or looking for a deal. Also, there are services not included in the overall rate. The services that may cost extra include:
- Valet Services
Lack of Security
There are no known precautions made on behalf of Silversea to prevent the spread of disease. There is also a lack of security which is concerning. Other cruise lines in the industry have security guards and security cameras in public areas of the ship. We would like to see Silversea add some security measures to their ships.
The Bottom Line
Silversea Cruises are better fitting for older adults over 50 years of age, although younger travelers in their mid-30s are not uncommon. Families will not enjoy Silversea Cruises, as there are no activities for teens and young kids to enjoy. The main draw of the Silversea Cruise ships is its offering of all inclusive packages. Comfort seekers and experienced international travelers will definitely appreciate the ease and comfort cruise aboard Silversea cruise ships provide.
