Norwegian Cruise Lines offers freestyle cruising, allowing guests to do what they want when they want. Dine-in choice restaurants featuring all types of flavorful cuisines, or participate in any of the onboard activities whenever you want. There is no scheduled seating, no preset dining times, and no enforced dress codes. 24-hour room service is available for dining inside your room.
There are a variety of onboard amenities for travelers of all ages. Activities for adults include spa and salon treatments, fitness classes, casinos, and bars and lounges. Programs for children and teenagers are available where they can enjoy arts and crafts, play video games, participate in pool parties, and compete in sports tournaments.
There are also plenty of unique activities to enjoy onboard Norwegian Cruise Lines. Guests can participate in comedy workshops, take dance lessons, or learn bartending and cooking skills. Wine and beer tastings are available. Children can dance and sing with Dora the Explorer, or have breakfast with SpongeBob Square Pants.
Norwegian tries to accommodate a number of different guests on each and every cruise. They have options for single guests, couples, and families traveling together. Cruises are available from one night to 48 days and offered year round.
All meals are included in the price of the cruise except for meals purchased at specialty restaurants. Reservations can be made up to three months prior to departure. Even with a reservation, expect waiting times upon arrival at the restaurant. You can expect to find all types of cuisine onboard the ship. Computerized screens throughout public areas tell guests how busy a restaurant is and if there is any available seating. Other amenities included on all cruise ships include:
Norwegian Cruise Lines also takes the safety of their guests seriously. They have implemented a number of precautions to make sure that both their staff and the travelers are not exposed to anything that could threaten their health. These precautions include:
There are a number of accommodations to choose from. Garden Villas provide panoramic views of the ocean, roof terraces and private Japanese-styled gardens. Owner's Suites come equipped with queen-sized beds, living rooms, whirlpool tubs and walk-in closets. Penthouse Suites, Ocean View Staterooms, and Inside Staterooms are also available. Rooms come equipped with all the standard amenities to provide a comfortable and enjoyable experience while onboard.
Norwegian's specialty restaurants charge a $15 to $99 per person cover fee apart from the cost of the meals. Expect to stand in long lines for all activities onboard including dining options. Announcements are frequent and loud.
Accommodations in standard cabins are a bit smaller than other cruise lines. Since Norwegian ships can accommodate a large number of guests, expect large crowds. If this is a problem for you, you can choose to upgrade to a first-class section where it is more spacious to get around.
Offshore excursions are not included in the price. Be prepared to pay lots of extra charges for dining options, beverages, and some of the activities during the length of your cruise.
excellent service, food and accomdations
We've been on two cruises with Norwegian. We had a lot of fun and the service was wonderful. The staff are very courteous and helpful. Logistics are handled very well. We were able to board and disembark easily as we started and ended our cruises and at each destination. The food was very good and the dining flexibility is a real plus. We utilized the walking deck extensively, visited the weight room, and enjoyed the game and pool areas. The entertainment in the evenings was fun. We also enjoyed dancing and listening to pianists, singers, guitarists, etc.
I love the boat and the staff. We went to the western caribbean. Wonderful ports and wonderful service.
We loved the freedom to dine, shop, and sleep on our own schedule! The crew was always kind and helpful.
Another great cruise line. Had a great time. loved the free style way and all the activities for kid.
We loved our cruise on Norwegian. Best parts: our ship (the Getaway), the food, the fitness room, the staff, the itinerary through the Bahamas. Their app that we were told to use for texting within our group when on the ship wasn't exactly awesome, but it wasn't bad enough to mar the trip that much.
We have sailed with Norwegian 3 times, was supposed to go last year on Pride, but wife had accident just prior to boarding (had travel protection, no problems getting refund). We had sailed on Gem 3 times, going on Breakaway next month. Really enjoy our time on board. Enjoyed tour of ship, on shore trips, shows, dining everything! Staff could not have been nicer. Even love the smiley washie washie girl!!! Already looking towards next years cruise or 2.
Love Norwegian. I sail tomorrow on my third Norwegian cruise this year; will sail again in December on the escape for #4. I've sailed on many different lines as this is my 55th over-all cruise. I rate Norwegian among the top.
The Hawaiim Island cruise was fantastic. All veranda rooms.Food was good, the stay in all of the ports were long enough but not too long and the night view of the volcanic activity was spectacular.
We just got off the Dawn from our 7 day cruise from Boston to Bermuda. It was our fourth on the Dawn, and it lived up to all our expectations. We upgraded to the Family Suite which was so much bigger than our past Mid-ship Mini Suite. Loved having a Concierge and Butler. The food was great. Cagney's was the best. The Moderno the least. Its been better in the past at Moderno. Personnel - Had a great dinner at the Italian restaurant with the Hotel Director and Cruise Director. Had one bad experience with a bar server. It was at Gatsbys. An Asian woman, as we were sitting so close to the bar where the servers came to get their drink orders...I motioned (as the piano was playing and loudly) we needed drinks, she completely ignored us. After about a 1/2 hour and several more attempts to get her to get us drinks, we left. Went to our favorite bar, the Bimini, where we were served by Irene. She was awesome. Always friendly and attentive to our needs. Speaking of awesome.....Janice at the Cagney's Steakhouse was so so so nice. Very personable, friendly, and there for us whenever we needed her. We already have our next one planned in Oct 2016. See you then. Thank you NCL for providing us with yet another phenomenal vacation.
best vacation ever
Another great time on a Norwegian Cruise. This time it was the Quebec to Boston Cruise which was fantastic. As always the crew members were very professional and made us feel welcomed. It is amazing how they can keep up the smiles and energy. It is also a nice touch that so many crew members go out their way to address passengers by name. We also like the "free style" concept. It is great if you are flexible and do not want to follow a rigid schedule especially for dining.

We LOVE Norwegian. We do a sailing every year, and prefer Norwegian over any other cruise line. We love the entertainment, the dining experiences, and most especially the "free style" experience, which allows us to do everything at our own pace. I do not want "regiment" or limitations that are almost inevitable on other cruise lines. From the time that one begins the booking process, all of the employees are friendly, helpful and knowlegable. Upon arriving at the embarcation and boarding the ship, everyone makes you feel like royalty! I guess that this is why we choose to "Sail Like A Norwegian"!
1ST Time on Norwegian, GetAway...AWESOME!!! Bought the Fine Dining...AWESOME Bought Spa Pkge,.... AWESOME BALCONY...AWESOME We booked for Thanksgiving and forgot to go get some Turkey at the regular Dining Room...Oh Well...LOL Put our deposit down on this year's trip AWESOME
Cruised with Norwegian 4 times! Once on the NCL Pearl and three times on the Epic. Next NCL cruise coming up soon on the Norwegian Getaway! Never once have I ever been disappointed with the food, service and staff. Top Notch Best Value vacation award for me. NCL is my Vacation Hero!
We loved NCL. We took our first cruise to Bermuda with Norwegian and everything was spectacular and everyone was so friendly. The staterooms were very nice and the entertainment was wonderful. In June we went on a cruise of the Southern Caribbean on another cruise line and it just did not measure. On NCL you have the freestyle dining and that is the best. We cannot wait until April when we again go NCL to the Bahamas. We have many different cruise lines to choose from and we choose NCL

had an awesome cruise on the Breakaway good company, good food and lots of fun.
Great experience. We took the Venice/Med Cruise and did two weeks on board. Great food and good trips ashore, even for senior citizens. Much better than the other cruises I have taken.
My wife and i have been on 7 cruises with Ncl 4 ships, the Spirit, Dawn. Getway, and Epic,. and Never had a Bad cruise, We are going again in OCT, 2016 ,, CAN'T WAIT..
I love Norwegian Cruise lines. I have been on 4 cruises and 3 Ships. I would recommend to anyone. Awesome for you and your significant other or your family. Fun for all
The best cruise line by far ! We have been on NCL 6-7 times and going again April 2016 !
We took a cruise on the Norwegian Pearl when it was just a baby ship.Nothing could have been nicer. Our stateroom..the food(loved the buffet),the staff..the entertainment, and the shops were the best..We felt pampered the entire week. There was nothing we could have wished for that we did not get.It would be fabulous to take another Norwegian cruise sometime in the near future.
We have been on 16 cruises over the past 13 years. They have included Princess and Royal Caribbean. However, we keep coming back to Norwegian. The value they provide for the money is great. Their crew, service, food, activities and entertainment compare well with their competitors.

Great cruise line and excellent concept, freestyle cruising.
I've been on two Norwegian cruises, NYC to Bermuda, and they were spectacular. You can eat where and when you like, with whomever you like. No assigned tables, or dinner hour. It feels like a vacation, where you can decide whatever you want to do each minute of the day. So many activities on the ship, I seldom feel the need to get off of it. Love, love, love Norwegian! Wish I could go on a Norwegian cruise every year!! The food is top-notch, and I'm a foodie. The specialty restaurants are wonderful, but I also love breakfast and lunch in the regular dining rooms. The food is so fresh and excellent everywhere on the ship. I can't think of a single negative to cruising on Norwegian.
We have sailed on NCL's Epic, Spirit and Dawn and loved all three. Most recently the Dawn to Bermuda. We love the specialty restaurants, the food is great. Never a dull moment, activities and shows all day long. The staff is beyond friendly and our butler was exceptional. We stay in suites to enjoy the extra amenities they have to offer. We next sail Augut 2016 - counting the days !
I personally Loved the food on our cruise. We sailed on the Getaway and were amazed at how wonderful everything was. We only had the buffet two times, but the Specialty Restaurants were our favorite. Moderno and Ocean Blue were by far the Best in the Whole Ship!!
I think with NCL (like any cruise line) many things are ala carte. Cruises typically are not all inclusive. Though NCL does have things like Wi-Fi, drinks, shore excursion credits etc. that can be included when booking certain rooms. We have cruised NCL about 9 or 10 times, from the large ships such as the Epic (Trans Atlantic) to the mid-size ships such as the Jewel.(Panama Canal). Service and amenities was good on each ship (though we would like to see washers and dryers on each ship.) We do cruise with other cruise lines from time to time, depending on overall value and itinerary (such as the South Pacific, which NCL does not sail to.) But, we are off to the Mediterranean on NCL in 2016.
I have taken 2 Alaska cruises with NCL. Both were very enjoyable and relaxing. The crew was great and very helpful. I am handicapped and use a wheelchair and I cannot complain about the service, it was excellent. Want to take another cruise soon.

After 9 cruises, 7 on NCL and one booked for May 2016 you could say I'm a lover. The past 3 cruises we stayed in Haven suites and enjoyed every perk available. We love NCL and the Haven!! Never a disappointment.
My first cruise with NCL was Sept 08 to Belize . Since then we have been on 6 NCL cruises . Each and everyone has its own SPECIAL memories ! We are planning at least 3 in 2016. I love NCL and would not sail with any other cruise line !
They really screwed me on one of their cruises. There were 6 of us, including my 6 month pregnant daughter. One of the excursions did not mention anything about not good for a pregnant person. When we boarded the 3 hr bus tour, we had to get off within 5 min of the bus leaving. It was NOT air conditioned, like a sardine can... I paid $300+ a couple for all of us for the excursion and they would not do a thing since the driver said we boarded the bus and should not get any restitution whatsoever. He claimed we were on the bus longer than 5 min, but it NEVER left the NCL port at all. Letters back and forth proved futile and got transferred all over the NCL Corp office. Now, I compare all cruise lines before ever booking another NCL.
My husband and I went from NY to Bermuda in sept 2014. we have cruised quite a bit and this was our first Norwegian experience. Everything was perfect. It was so clean, fun, beautiful, friendly spacious. I loved eating when we wanted to and where we wanted. so much to choose from. Our best experience in 20 years of various cruises! Norwegian is our new 'go to' cruise line and we hope to book another cruise soon!!
we have taken a couple cruises with norwegian. they were both very good. we have cruised with other ships but i do believe norwegian is the best. we especialy liked our hawaii cruise. john womack

Great time on both the Gem and Dawn. We are booked for the Carribean Cruise in January!
we had a great time on the NORWIGIAN SKY
The Norwegian Breakaway was like being in a crowded subway during rush hour. The upper deck was wall to wall lounge chairs strewn all over like an obstacle course. And, forget about getting in the swimming pool. You couldn't even see it. I have photos if anyone is interested email me.
I can't say enough about how great NCL has been. Has everything been perfect? Not always, but get real, they are taking care of thousands of people. Seems like all the complainers want a cheap trip, yet still be treated like a celebrity. The staff has always been wonderful on our 5 NCL cruises. The shows are good and the food is fine. If you don't like how your kids were treated, go on a disney cruise. I don't want to see your kids anyway. Thanks NCL, love you.
I really really love this cruise, we went in a family trip, my two daughters and me, we had a nice and beautiful time, we went on 4th of July weekend in 2015 and really relax, enjoy the time and no hurry to eat, you eat and cruise your own way... I love it, and will go again.
One of the best vacations I ever had, everything was great .

We have been on 18 cruises with NCL and are leaving this month for a transatlantic on the Escape, now we are expecting a few problems as this ship is being built as I am typing this but if you go into a cruise knowing this you will plan for it. We usually have no problem with dining as you can make reservations if you please and it makes it very easy or you can chose to freestyle which NCL is known for. You just have to be aware that you might have to wait for a bit just like any restaurant at home or abroad. I had one major problem with the primary review, which restaurant do they charge $99 for a meal. We have eaten at all the restaurants and never once have we paid that. I would like to know where that is and what it is!!!! You do not have to pay extra for your meals, that is only if you chose to, there are restaurants where all the meals are included and we make sure we eat there just to make sure what they are serving and we love them.

My husband and I went on a cruise for our 25th anniversary and another for our 30th. We are planning on another for our 35th. Cann't immagine another company holding up to the high standards set by Norweign!
My husband and I have been on two Norwegian cruises and four other cruises with other lines. We enjoyed the freedom of Norwegian and the programs and entertainment more than on any other cruise line. The dining fare is excellent too and we could choose when and which dining room we wanted to have a meal. We always had a great breakfast in the dining room when we did not have a deadline for a shore tour. The cafeteria has great meals but it is always more than busy and not relaxing.

This was our first cruise with Norwegian. Just returned from a week on the Pearl to Alaska. Staff were friendly, balcony room was plenty big, activities were plentiful and lots of fun. I didn't eat at any of the specialty restaurants but if you couldn't find something to eat to your liking I don't know what you were looking for. My only complaint was the length of time in a couple of ports. Ketchikan was way too short and we didn't get to see Victoria BC in very much daylight. Overall it was a great trip and I'm ready to do it again. Loved Norwegian and they loved me back!!!

We sail with Norwegian every year. I have sailed on other cruise lines, but none have had the personal service that Norwegian has. We actually have two more cruises booked, and will almost certainly keep sailing with this company for years to come. We only have two weeks per year to take a real break from the reality that is "the job". We prefer to be in the company of "fellow Norwegians" who enjoy terrific dining, terrific entertainment and wonderful accomodations.
I loved my Norwegian cruise for many reasons, but the biggest reason is that is where I met my husband, Steven!
I have been on Carnival in the past and decided to try Norwegian. I was impressed with many things.... the number of activities, the layout of the ship, the super friendly staff all the way from the top to the bottom, and the Shows were awesome. So many options for things to do. The price was a little more than Carnival and I feel the disembarking was better organized on Carnival. Overall I would still choose Norwegian unless Carnival offered something that I could not say no to
I haved cruised 15 times look forward to every one already booked on new excape 12/12/15 just got back from Alaska 8th time ready to book again
Rick and I traveled to Alaska Aug 29th -Sept 5th ....we had a great time and everything was perfect....our room steward Ben went out of his way in all that we asked ...the excursions were great....Lenny our guide for Skagway and the Yukon was awesome....I recommend Alaska for everyone....great history
We had an awesome time on the Norwegian Sky to the Bahamas. There was plenty to do, food was great- we did NOT have to wait at any of the restaurants even without prior reservations. Our cabin steward was fabulous, all the waiters, bartenders and crew. The Captain was friendly and funny. We will definitely cruise with them again.
