Low Rates

Compared to other bank and credit union lenders offering credit cards, this rate range is significantly low, allowing consumers to save more money on interest.

It is important to note that Delta Community Credit Union requires an excellent credit score to be approved for the Visa Platinum Rewards card, allowing the company to offer such low rates.

No Annual Fee

The Delta Community Credit Union Visa Platinum Rewards Credit Card does not have an annual fee.

In addition, there are no minimum interest charges or over-the-credit-limit fees, and cardholders can receive a cash rebate up to 1.5 percent if they make a minimum $500 balance transfer within the first three months of opening a new account.

The Bad

  • Additional APRs
  • Additional fees
  • Service limitations

Additional APRs

Although Delta Credit Community Credit Union offers low purchase interest rates, there are additional annual percentage rates (APRs) to be aware of.

Delta Community Credit Union has a balance transfer APR and cash advance APR of 9.75 to 13.75 percent, and a penalty APR of 14.75 to 18.75 percent. These rates are based entirely on your credit history and current creditworthiness.

It is important to know that the penalty APR may be applied to your entire card balance if you make a late payment, and it could remain until you make at least six minimum payments by your payment due date shown in your monthly statement.

Additional Fees

The financial services company charges certain fees for additional services that may be required. Delta Community Credit Union charges a cash advance fee of $6, as well as a foreign transaction fee of 1 percent of each transaction. There is also a late payment fee and returned payment fee up to $25*.

Additional charges to these include $3 for statement copies and $6 for document copies. Rush fees are $15 during the week and $30 on Saturday. The company also charges a $15 stop payment fee and $3 for convenience checks. There may be other undisclosed fees as well; customers should read all contract agreements carefully before signing.

*All credit card costs and fees are current as of September 2020.

Service Limitations

Delta Community Credit Union only serves customers near its location in Georgia. Consumers outside this area will not be approved. Customers must enroll in the company's banking service in order to receive credit card approval. An adult joint owner is required on all accounts for individuals under 18 years old.

Customers will need to acquire a large number of points in order to get rewards back. For example, a cardholder will have to acquire 3,000 points just to get $25 in cash. Points can take over 60 days to post to a cardholder's account. Unused points will expire after three years of the date which they were earned. Customers are only allowed to acquire 3,000 bonus points per quarter on top of the regular earned points. Additional restrictions and other requirements may apply for reward redemption.

The Bottom Line

Delta Community Credit Union offers its customers Visa credit cards that reward frequent everyday purchases with points that can be redeemed for cash and other items. The cards feature low interest rates and no annual fee. However, consumers with excellent credit histories can most likely find better deals with some of the other industry competitors. The company also offers various other financial products and services with 24/7 customer service. Online and mobile banking is provided for members to help them manage their finances at their convenience.

It is important to note that Delta Community Credit Union only serves customers in Georgia and certain eligibility requirements must be met in order to open an account and be approved for credit. There are also limitations on reward redemptions. The company does charge additional service fees for additional administrative services.

We would recommend researching other credit card issuer options before making a final decision, as you may find a better card for your needs elsewhere, especially if you have less-than-perfect or bad credit.
