Kohl’s exceeds: women’s merchandise at the top of the pile
According to a new survey by Piper Jaffray, Kohl’s comes out on top for women’s clothing stores! Even though Kohls flys under the radar, the survey found that other large retail stores, including Wal-mart, Macy’s, J.C. Penney, Amazon, Old Navy, Target, and T.J. Maxx (to name a few), fell behind in the rankings since the Fall of 2013 survey results.
Business Insider reports that the survey questioned 1000 women across the U.S. But why is Kohl’s so popular? Analysts say it’s because Kohl’s provides customers with several popular national brands, including Nike, Vera Wang, and Izod.
Sources also say Kohl’s is popular because there are deals daily, providing sales to customers that beat the competition, especially with the national popular brands mentioned above.
“Nearly 12% of people who buy groceries at Wal-Mart shop most frequently for women’s apparel at Kohl’s,” which translates to billions of dollars walking out of Wal-Mart’s clothing department into the open doors of Kohl’s instead.
The company’s shares have risen more than 33% over the last year. By comparison, Macy’s and Wal-Mart shares have grown by 6% and 10%, respectively, while Sears and JC Penney’s shares have fallen by more than 14%. (Business Insider)
