Southern New Hampshire University (SNHU) is a nonprofit and regionally-accredited university founded in 1932 to help students pursue their dreams of higher education. Originally called the New Hampshire School of Accounting and Secretarial Science, the school has a brick and motor campus located in Manchester, NH as well as four other satellite campuses located in New Hampshire and Maine.
SNHU has over 200 career-focused degree and certificate programs and enrolls online students across the country to complete courses remotely.
SNHU allows students to attend on the main campus, on satellite campuses, or remotely online. The flexibility of these classes has helped the school grow to over 3,000 on-campus students and over 60,000 online students.
Students can earn associate, bachelor's, master's, and doctorate degrees in addition to certificates through different programs at SNHU. Potential students have a variety of options when it comes to choosing what form of higher education suits their needs. Online certificate programs include the following:
For students interested in SNHU undergraduate programs, there is no application fee. Applying is simple and helps prospective students get started right away.
SNHU allows up to 90 credits of previous coursework towards a bachelor's degree to transfer to SNHU. In order for credits to transfer, a grade of a C- or higher is necessary.
SNHU is accredited by the New England Association of Schools and Colleges through the Commission on Institutions of Higher Education.
Earning a degree at SNHU does not come cheap. Undergraduate course fees start at $960 for online students, which is $320 per credit hour. Graduate courses start at $1881 per course or $627 per credit hour. And these fees don't include the books and other materials needed to complete these courses.
SNHU, however, does offer discounts to military members and their families. While cost may be higher than others, SNHU offers many scholarships and grants for students.
SNHU has set 6-week term dates for online undergraduate programs. So this is not a situation where you can work at your own pace and take your time. Be aware that there are deadlines you need to stay on top of. However, since there are multiple term start dates, students are able to choose a term start that is right for their schedule.
