The ARRO taxi app lets users hail, schedule, and pay for rides, but users can also hail a taxi themselves and just use ARRO to pay by entering a code found in the taxi. The app is free for Android and iOS devices and helps to connect users to nearby professional taxi drivers.

The service is available in London, England, as well as the following U.S. cities:

  • New York
  • Chicago
  • Boston
  • San Francisco
  • Houston
  • Miami

ARRO isn’t a peer-to-peer rideshare. Its drivers go through training and are locally licensed drivers.

Once you reach your destination, your payment is automatically paid via the app and a receipt is emailed to you.

The Good

  • No Surge Pricing
  • Multiple Payment Options
  • Wheelchair Accessible Options

No Surge Pricing

Unlike rideshare services like Uber and Lyft, ARRO doesn’t do surge pricing. Whether there is bad weather or high demand, prices aren’t affected.

Multiple Payment Options

You can easily use multiple forms of payment, added into one account. So, if you have a business card and personal card, etc, you can add up to three options and label them.

Wheelchair Accessible Options

If you need a wheelchair-accessible vehicle, ARRO might be a good fit for you. It even trains drivers to help.

The Bad

  • Availability
  • Fees

Availability

ARRO isn’t available everywhere, but if you live in or visit one of the covered cities, this would be a great, stress-free ride option.

Fees

The following are several possible fees when you get a ride through ARRO:

  • Service fee — up to $2
  • Reservation fee — $3 (up to 48 hrs in advance)
  • Cancellation Fee — $2–$10 max
  • No-Show Fee — $5–$10 max
  • Alternative Service Fee — up to $0.25

The Bottom Line

ARRO helps users in eight U.S. service areas easily get a taxi ride from a licensed driver. While there are several different service fees, passengers won’t be on the hook for any surge fees. Payment is easy when users pair their app with the taxi. There is no pausing at the end for payment. It is automatic when the car reaches your destination, and you are automatically sent the receipt for confirmation.

Unfortunately, this app isn’t available to use widely in the United States.

Have you gotten a ride through ARRO? What did you like or dislike? How does it compare to other rideshare services? Let us know with a quick review below.
