The Good

  • Thorough Inspections
  • Find a Green Light Inspected Car
  • Become a Green Light Dealer

Thorough Inspections

While companies like Carfax and Autocheck are an excellent resource for finding information about a car's accident history, number of previous owners, etc. Green Light Auto Inspections prides itself for going above and beyond and offering things like the current condition of the vehicle, a comprehensive vehicle overview, and more. Green Light Auto Inspections has over 60 inspection categories and 200 points of inspection. Plus, all inspections are performed and overseen by ASE Certified Mechanics.

Green Light Auto Inspections Vehicle Overview informs buyers with the following information:

  • Vehicle’s likelihood of passing safety and emissions
  • Tire tread and depth
  • Any warning lights
  • Number of passed/failed categories
  • Where the car was last inspected

Additionally, every vehicle inspected by Green Light Auto Inspections will receive a Green Light Grade. The Green Light Grade is an algorithm-based score that considers the Vehicle Overview. The Green Light Grade is instrumental as it is easy to understand and provides car buyers with an unbiased and transparent rundown of the vehicle.

Find a Green Light Inspected Car

Consumers can find a Green Light Inspected Vehicle in a few different ways. The first way is by visiting the company website and clicking on the “Find A Location” tab. This will reveal a map of the company's Green Light Dealerships and participating Inspection Stations.

The second way to find a Green Light Inspected Vehicle is by using the company's search feature. Consumers can search for a specific vehicle by entering the make, model, mileage, price range, year, zip code, and dealer name. Or users can conduct a more general search by selecting to search by the type of vehicle (SUV, sedan, coupes, trucks, etc.).

If a vehicle has not been inspected and received a grade, consumers can request that the dealership conduct a Green Light Inspection by filling out a short online form.

Become a Green Light Dealer

Just about any dealership can become a Green Light Dealer — or if a dealership is on the fence about joining, it can request a live demo of the offered services.

Becoming a Green Light Dealer has several benefits, such as access to the company's RECON software. The software allows dealers to track RECON expenses, reduce holding costs, get web-hosted emissions reports, and more. Additionally, Green Light Auto Inspections has an advertising platform that includes KSL.com banner ads, Facebook integrations, SEO integrations, website inspection hosting, and inventory feeds.

The Bad

  • Green Light Dealer Prices and Fees

Green Light Dealer Prices and Fees

Registering with Green Light Auto Inspections is a fairly simple and straightforward process. Users can choose to create a free account, but this does not include access to all the company's unique features.

In order to receive access to everything Green Light Auto Inspections' has to offer, dealerships will need to sign up for a paid account. Now, Green Light Auto Inspections claims to offer a variety of plans; however, there is no information on the website to back this up.

The Bottom Line

What we love about Green Light Auto Inspections is the company's dedication to transparency. Buying a used car often leaves consumers feeling uncertain and hesitant, so the fact that the company provides a detailed vehicle history report, vehicle value guide, and the current condition of the vehicle is refreshing.

Green Light Auto Inspections isn't just an excellent resource for car buyers; it is also good for dealerships. Customers appreciate transparency. If a dealership can present a full history, an unbiased report, and information on the vehicle's current condition, the customer will likely continue doing business with that company.

However, we do recommend dealers speak with a company representative about the paid accounts (be sure to ask about the pricing structure, fees, and contract lengths) before committing to becoming a Green Light Dealer.
