The Good

  • No-Hassle Shopping
  • Special Warranties
  • Vehicle History
  • Quality Pre-Owned Cars
  • 5-Day Money-Back Guarantee
  • Shopping Experience and Home Delivery

No-Hassle Shopping

CarSense uses a no-commission sales staff, so they interact more like customer service representatives than salespeople. Another benefit that adds to the no-hassle shopping experience is that CarSense offers no-haggle prices. This helps to reduce one of the biggest consumer pain points about the experience of buying a car. Each car has the price listed on the windshield, right next to the Kelley Blue Book price, so you can see if you are getting a good deal.

Special Warranties

When you purchase a CarSense certified pre-owned car, you get a whole lot more than a car. It comes with a 6-month/6,000 mile bumper-to-bumper warranty and a lifetime engine guarantee that lasts for as long as you own the car.

The warranties do require that you get normal maintenance done on your car, like a standard oil change.

Vehicle History

You also get a free CarFax vehicle history report for the car and the opportunity to finance through CarSense’s network of over 20 banks.

Quality Pre-Owned Cars

Only one in fifty cars is selected as a CarSense certified used vehicle. Most are less than four years old, with less than 50,000 miles. Selections have to pass a 109-point mechanic inspection. Additionally, even though CarSense specializes in used auto sales, the company doesn't sell cars with scratches or dents.

5-Day Money-Back Guarantee

Any time retailers offer a money-back guarantee, it is for customers’ peace of mind. If you purchase a vehicle at a CarSense location, you can return it, with no fee and no questions, as long as you only drive it for less than 500 miles.

Shopping Experience and Home Delivery

Users can shop online for a car, get trade-in offers, select payment, and even make an Express Purchase online. If you have questions, you are provided with contact info for a certified vehicle specialist to call or message about each vehicle.

The Express Purchase may require a deposit be paid before delivery.

Alternatively, you can schedule a test drive online for each of the vehicles.

Once you choose a car, delivery is free as soon as the next business day, if you are within 50 miles of a CarSense location. If you choose to return the car, the company will come to pick it up (with the 5-day return guarantee), but subsequent deliveries cost $50, which is refundable if you end up purchasing a car.

The Bad

  • Limited Locations

Limited Locations

While this is a little bit like CarMax, CarSense is really a family of dealerships all in the Delaware Valley region of Pennsylvania:

  • Chester Springs, Pennsylvania
  • Cranberry Township, Pennsylovania
  • Hatfield, Pennsylvainia
  • Robinson Township, Pennsylvania
  • Mount Holly, New Jersey

The Bottom Line

It's hard to find anything negative to say about CarSense. If you live in Pennsylvania or New Jersey and you want a used car, this is a great place to buy a car. We recommend trying this haggle-free family of dealerships. Your purchase includes a lifetime engine guarantee and online car buying tools to identify the specific vehicle you want and can afford.

STAY AWAY! We bought a 2017 Honda Pilot from CarSense in January 2021. There were scratches on the vehicle and CarSense said they would get them out as part of their No Scratches guarantee. We live 45 minutes away and had to take a day off work to come down and drop the car off for this work as they do not have loaner cars to give out when doing service. Whatever. Let's just get this done. When we got the car home in the sunlight the next day all of the scratches still existed. I used to do detail work and it was clear they just slapped a whole bunch of wax on the scratches to try and hide. Clear as day, all still there... Here's where it gets so much worse- The Fuel Emissions light came on prior to the 'detail' appointment. We asked that they look into while it was in the shop. Service rep claims likely just a computer error. To be safe we took to Honda. Turns out it was the Fuel Injector. Okay, if that's it I can live, it's covered under warranty. That wasn't just it. I know the service guy at Honda and had him do a look over at the car while it was there and we ended up needing the following: -All new brakes - pads and resurfacing - Brakes were at a 3. CarSense disputes this. No way CarSense- we barely drove the car in the 1 month of ownership. --2 filters needed replacing -Serpentine belt worn and cracked needed replacing -Brake fluid low & discolored- needed replacing -Transmission Fluid showed no history of being changed - needed drained & filled -Rear diff fluid needed to be drained and filled -Front heated seat never worked - replaced heater pad in seat Grand Total: $1,681.97 Called CarSense to make this right. Emailed them a copy of the invoice from the work done at Honda. They wouldn't pay for a dime of work. Unbelievable. They complained that I didn't take the car to them. Why would I trust them to do major work if they couldn't even address a few scratches on the car? Guy said well you should've given us a second chance. CarSense said they wouldn't cover any of the issues because they say I got scammed from Honda. Only scam here is CarSense. What a joke. NEVER PURCHASE FROM THEM.
