Founded in 1933, Nissan Motor Company is a Big Three Japanese automaker with a reputation for style and performance.
Formerly sold under the Datsun marque in the United States, Nissan reclaimed its own name in the mid-eighties. In 1989, Nissan spun-off its own luxury brand, Infiniti.
The automaker’s cars, trucks, crossovers, and SUVs are sold at more than 1,020 Nissan dealerships in the United States.
When it comes to dependability, Nissan ranks above average at 11th out of 31 car brands in the most recent JD Power Vehicle Dependability Study, meaning that Nissan vehicals have fewer issues that require attention or maintenance than many other brands.
Additionally, the following were ranked among the top three most dependable cars in their segment:
Nissan’s current lineup runs the gamut from sub-compact cars, like the Versa, to large trucks, like the Nissan Titan, which is available in Single, King, and Crew Cabs. The company offers a few different sports cars and even the electric Nissan Leaf, which is the world’s best-selling all-electric car with over 300,000 sold.
While most Nissan vehicles carry a 36-month/36,000-mile basic warranty and a 60-month/60,000-mile powertrain warranty, the Titan model comes with a 60-month/100,000-mile basic and powertrain warranty. This is the best available truck warranty in the nation.
Intelligent Mobility is the name of Nissan’s safety technology program. It offers the following features:
Nissan is also helping to engineer Seamless Autonomous Mobility and uses human “mobility managers” to teach driverless cars what to do when something unexpected happens. In the early 2020s, the company will start using autonomous vehicles to transport users to their destinations.
By 2021, Nissan’s Safety Shield 360 will come standard on all new US vehicles, adding features like Automatic Emergency Braking, Read Cross Traffic Alert, and several others to the Intelligent Mobility product.
Nissan is one of the world’s greenest brands and is the world’s largest electric vehicle manufacturer. The company’s top-seller is the Leaf, which is the world’s best-selling highway-capable plug-in electric.
Since 2010, Nissan’s Green Program has been recognized by the U.S Environmental Protection Agency as an Energy Star Partner of the Year.
Several different Nissan models were included in the Takata airbag recall, the largest of its kind ever to take place in the industry. If you own one of the following models, check to see if your vehicle is affected:
I've owned a few Nissan's through the years but nothing tops the Altima. It's luxurious and functional and drives like a sports car. I really love this car and would recommend it over and over!
I had a 2013 Sentra, and it was great! Needed a few things replaced here and there, but I got my money’s worth.
I love my Nissan Rogue. Most comfortable car yet and it gets great gas mileage. Love my car!
I have a nissan sentra and I love my car. It runs like a charm and has great gas mileage. I think it's a great first car for teenagers.
Nissan sells some amazing cars that tend to be pretty fast. They are very fuel efficient, cheap ,and nice manual cars.
The car I have has started to have a lot of problems and it's only 5 years old. Parts are a little more expensive than most.
Recently purchased a Nissan Altima and am very satisfied with this vehicle. It has all the necessities to my liking and can go very far on a full tank. Will definitely be recommending this company to others.
We loved our Nissan Pathfinder. It was reliable, dependable, smooth ride and I trust Nissan as a builder of reliable cars.
When I got into accident in my Nissan Altima my car took most of the damage. Thankful that I was left unharmed yet unhappy the car was totaled and took most of the damage. Apparently they don’t hold up as well as other cars.
I have only owed two cars and both have been Nissans. I love how they drive. They are well worth the money.
My Nissan has 250k miles on it and the engine is strong as ever. Great little car
Nissan is a great car! They are stylishly designed and have a great drive! I drove one in high school and it was super reliable and a great radio!
I own a Nissan Altima and the mileage is great and I've never had a mechanical problem with it. I would recommend anyone to get a Nissan!
Owned Nissans for 10# years. Great quality cars with safety added constantly. Service also great.
My Nissan felt very sleek and rose nicely. It felt like a quality car. Our interiors were so easy to clean.
The first car my family ever leased was a nissan sedan. That car got me through my formative years and was a reliable and fuel efficient vehicle.
My nissan altima has lasted forever and rarely has problems. Very nice gas mileage and reliable customer service!
I've had my Nissan Sentra since 2016 and it has been great! Awesome customer service too.
I have loved having an armada.... they are so sleek and cool and the price point is great also for a big suv
Nissan in Grand Junction, Colorado. They are awesome and they are so friendly, fair & awesome!
Nissan is a very trustable car provider, with quick and easy purchase. I got my first car from Nissan and I've stuck with the company ever since.
The Rogue and Altima were amazing! Still have the car. Only reason no longer have the rogue is because it could no longer hold the whole family. It was built strong and sturdy. It was great on road trips and just perfect for us and a child. Great gas mileage and we always serviced it and never had any other repair problems. Great looking inside too. Cost was worth it and affordable.
Nissan cars will go forever and ever! And when they break down they are inexpensive to fix (compared to other cars I've driven) I had a Nissan Sentra in college and it felt safe and comfortable, looked nice and it was affordable. I'd definitely drive one of these again.
We have had our Nissan passenger van for 4 years. It has been a great vehicle. It was nice to find a large vehicle for a good price.
If you want a safe and reliable car, Nissan is the way to go! You can’t go wrong with such an affordable car!
I am the proud owner of a Sentra SR. Bought it brand new back in 2017 and have really enjoyed all the helpful features: seat warmers, wireless bluetooth, and convenient phone charging options.
I owned a Maxima and really enjoyed it, although it seemed to have a variety of mechanical issues. Overall, though, it was a good purchase, but I am concerned about the current state of quality of Nissan automobiles, which I feel has been negatively affected by Renault's purchase of the company.
We have a Nissan Altima and I love it except the gear shift doesn’t shift unless you put a pen in the hole next to the gear shift. And it’s over $700 to fix it so we just keep it like that
I own a Nissan Xterra and I love it! My car has given me very little problems and has been so dependable for me and my family! Would definitely recommend.
I owned a Nissan Maxima for a short period of time. It was nice and had a lot of get up and go!
My first car was a Nissan Altima. Great car all around, drives pretty smooth... a pretty decent car brand.
My daughter and I shared a Nissan 4 door. It ran and ran. When she bought a new car I continued to drive it for a long time.
Nissan vehicles are great for commuter cars. They run forever with minimal maintenance. They are well built and I found that they are extremely reliable for the price. Great choice in buying a Nissan!
Affordable. Reliable. Well kept over the years. Hard to break and easy to fix when broken.
Has good vehicles that hold a lot of children. Also they don't look as ugly as the other options. Their twelve seat van has worked good for our family.

We have had a Nissan Altima for about 3 Years. I enjoy the car but have some concerns about the CVT transmission. Thus far I enjoy the car. It will have episodes where the acceleration does not kick in when trying to start driving.
Truly a smooth ride and a durable and long lasting car. Excellent gas mileage and live and ride in comfort.
Nissan was a durable car, and drove longer than most vehicles out there. I had it for over 250 thousand miles. It was very economical on gas and the car was very roomy and comfortable. The price was good but the reliability was excellent.
Nissan was my very first car. It lasted a long time and for the value think it was a pretty good car
I have had several different makes and models and all have been great. No major problems and good cars
We owned a 2012 Nissan Quest for a couple of years. We loved the space and not so impressed with the reliability of the car. We had some mechanical issues with it that required to take it to a car shop from time to time. Besides that, it was to sell and we could get a good price when we decided to upgrade it
Best SUV ever is the Nissan Armada! That’s what we have owned for over 13yrs and I wouldn’t change it! Good for large family and towing. Spacious seating compared to some SUVs.
A pathfinder was the first vehicle me and my husband bought together. We loved it! It was very reliable, we never had any major fixes while we owned it.
I owned a Nissan Frontier for a number of years and the craftsmanship of that vehicle was not as high as other competitors. It was always having engine issues of some sorts. It was turning into a money pit.
I own a Nissan Altima and I love it. It is a mid-size car and gets great gas mileage. I have had no issues with my car. I have only had to do regular, minor maintenance on my car. I had to ride in the back seat and was surprised with how much room it had. It is great for travailing and has a huge trunk and I get compliment on the color of my car as well. It is dark blue but looks black. I will drive this car long after it has been paid off.
Had the worst experience I have ever had with any car dealership at tim dahle nissan in draper utah. They told us we could test drive a car over the weekend. Then we came back on monday to get our car back that we had to leave there in exchange for the test drive car. They tried to move and hide our car so they could tell us that they sold our car. We had to pay $1000 to get our own car back! It was insane!
Great service, even better vehicle. I own a Nissan Juke and I love everything about it, except for one item- the headlights cannot be changed out unless you take it into a shop/dealer, or you are a mechanic. Other than that I've only had great things to say about Nissan brand, vehicles, and service.
Love my Titan. It has treated me well. The dealer gave me a decent deal. Didn’t feel like I got ripped off....too much. Lol
We needed a really large vehicle for our family of 9. Nissan Passenger van was such a great option. It was large but still looked nice and wasn't nearly as expensive as other options.
We owned a Nissan Rogue for a year or two but had to sell and upgrade to accommodate growth in our family. Overall good experience.
