Your business plan is complete and all the small details have been worked out; The only thing left is to get the business registered. Legal offers a variety of business registration options to get your business up and running.

The Good

  • Several coverage options
  • Pricing
  • Transparency
  • Customer support

Whether the new business will be a sole proprietorship, corporation or an LLC, coverage from Legal Zoom is available. During the past 16 years, over 600 Legal Zoom employees have helped millions of business owners and families.

There are a lot of factors that affect the price of service. Location, type of new business and requested 'extras' all factor into the final dollar amount. For those requesting a "DBA", or sole proprietorship, the minimum price is $99 plus state fees. Trademark purchases start at $149, plus state fees.

Fees don't seem to be hidden; Legal Zoom is upfront about the extra amounts pinned on to each order. Additional fees seem to vary from product to product.

Customer support is available via telephone and email. Agents are available to take phone calls Monday through Friday, 5 a.m. to 7 p.m. Pacific time, and Saturdays 7 a.m. until 4 p.m.; closed on Sundays. Emails are usually answered within one business day.

The Bad

  • Access to attorney

It is unclear whether or not Legal Zoom provides its customers with access to an attorney.

The Bottom Line

Legal Zoom seems to be a well-established company, with numerous employees, providing solid legal advice to individuals, sole proprietorship and large companies.
