Promote Your Book/Brand With Amazon's New Giveaway Tool

Attention indie authors! Entrepreneurs! Charities! Or anyone looking to promote a product, service, or even themselves!

Amazon is now hosting giveaways, free for everyone's use. That's right, you can promote your book or your Youtube channel with a giveaway -- completely free and completely hosted by Amazon. Want to give away your book? Do it. Maybe give away a prize to people donating to your charity? Make it happen. Amazon's making it super easy for you:

  1. Go to the Amazon Giveaway home page.
  2. Select a prize.
  3. Get a link to your giveaway.
  4. Email, tweet, or use your social network to send out the link to anyone you like.

Your entrants get their results immediately -- and whether they win or lose they can take advantage of functionality that helps them forward the link onto their friends any way they like.

Amazon even has sample giveaways up on the launch page so you can try it yourself. (Sadly, I did not win a banana slicer. I am bereft, as you might imagine.)

Setting up a giveaway doesn't cost you anything. Of course, you'll have to purchase the prize and pay for shipping once it's been awarded.

You can customize your giveaway in a couple of ways:

  • The giveaway landing page can be customized with text or graphics.
  • You can choose between one of two giveaway types: (1) Lucky Number or (2) First-Come, First-Served.

The Lucky Number giveaway awards a prize to every set number to enter. For example, every 25th entrant wins, up to 10 total winners. According to Amazon's Giveaway FAQ, "This model generates more entrants, the giveaway is likely to last longer, and is more suited to growing Twitter followers."

The First-Come, First-Served giveaway awards prizes to the first set number of eligible entrants. Amazon says, "This model encourages entrants to respond quickly and the giveaway ends when all prizes are claimed."

So if you're struggling to build your online presence -- whether it's to boost views of your LinkedIn profile or to generate awareness of you dog-washing service -- Amazon's giveaway platform may be a simple way to grow your audience. I beg of you, however, please offer a better prize than a banana slicer.
