Amazon updates Instant Video app

Amazon has updated their streaming video app to the newest version, reports TechCrunch.

The new update brings a much-requested feature to the iOS app: the ability to stream movies and TV shows over the users mobile data plan. Previously, users could only watch video over a Wi-fi connection. Video would have HD play-back capabilities, which could eat up user's data easily.

The update also includes the ability to AirPlay the Amazon app to an Apple TV, which is forward-thinking considering Apple doesn't have an Amazon Instant Video app on their devices. The app also "works with the Apple Digital AV Adapter to playback content in HD over a hardwired HDMI connection, which is super useful for bypassing the expensive and ugly in-room entertainment system offered at most hotels."

Amazon Instant Video access is free for members with an Amazon Prime subscription. Amazon Prime is a $99 per year service that allows access to cloud storage, music, movies, and free two-day home deliveries.
