As if you needed more delivery options from Amazon, the online retail giant is providing a delivery service to customers through local shops in Manhattan, reports TechCrunch.
Amazon Prime Now will host delivery options from "D'Agostino, Gourmet Garage, and Billy's Bakery, with plans to add Eataly and Westside Market next." This service rivals start-ups in the Manhattan area who have started the same type of delivery service. Items will be delivered in under 2 hours, much like the regular Prime Now service.
Manhattan deliveries will be extended across all areas of the island over the next few weeks, but will be available in specific neighborhoods first. The Prime Now services in Atlanta, Austin, Baltimore, Miami, Brooklyn, and Dallas will be next to get local deliveries in the foreseeable future.
Prime Now, available to Amazon Prime subscribers, is free for two-hour delivery and $7.99 for one-hour delivery in certain zip codes, reports CNet. The service will be available 8am to 10 pm, seven days a week.
Amazon Prime costs $99 per year (less for students) and includes free two-day shipping, access to Prime Instant Video, Prime music, Prime photos, and the Kindle Owners' Lending Library.
