Amazon finally launches “Amazon Home Services”
… and all the media can see is goats!
It’s true – through Amazon Home Services, an Angie’s List competitor, Amazon customers can hire a goat herder or a goat-grazing lawn service. But only if you’re in the right zip-code for such services.
Through the Amazon Home Services website, you can enter your zip-code and see what is available to you. Near bigger cities, the demand and therefore options are greater, as with any type of service provider. The top-tier categories on Amazon Home Services includes Home Improvement, Lawn & Garden, Automotive, Computer & Electronics, and Lessons. There is also a “other services” category (which, clearly, includes goat-grazing and goat-herding).
Navigation is pretty clear according to The Next Web. If you’re signing up for vocal lessons, for example, you can pick the number of lessons, length of the lesson, and whether you want home or studio lessons. After answering the prompts (and seeing reviews from other customers), you add the offer to your cart and check out/pay – much like every other transaction on Amazon.
With Home Services, Amazon will take a percentage of provider’s earnings, as is standard with all purchases and services on the retail website. They are expected to split the service fees into three tiers: standardized, custom and recurring, “each with a 5 percent transaction fee, and then with varying “service platform” fees ranging from 15 percent (standardized) to 19 percent (custom) to 5 percent (recurring),” according to TechCrunch.
Amazon Home Services is more centralized to bigger cities, but check your zip-code on their website! You might be surprised what is offered by you!
