When users first start up truBackup, they will notice that it is not clunky, confusing or disorganized. What’s great is that all options are conveniently and clearly laid out. User can select from the following: Backup, Restore, Schedule, and Devices. There is no convoluted main menu or help screen directing users in a million places. You have four simple options—that’s what truBackup does, and that’s what the user wants from it.
When clicking on Backup, users can choose to back up their contacts, music, videos, SMS, photos and apps. A nice feature is the ability to decide where you want the backups to go. Users can choose to send the backup files and data to Google Drive, Dropbox or your SD card. This way, everything important to you on your phone that truBackup has the ability to back up is completely accessible to you with reliability and according to your specifications.
The Restore function is so quick and painless that users won’t have to fret about jumping through hoops to recall information that may otherwise be lost. This user-friendly process is a simple matter of clicking Restore, selecting the files you want back and then letting the app do all the dirty work. You can then sit back and relax and wait for those once-feared lost files to be back for your use.
Now what if you wish to back up your files but for whatever reason want to do it at a future date? Not a problem at all. This app allows users to schedule a time of their choosing when a backup may occur. Whether you wish to do it the following day, the following week or months down the road, truBackup can make it happen. If you want to schedule a backup for the middle of the night, that’ll work as well. However, there’s no reason to worry about the process interfering with your regular Android activities. That’s because truBackup will work in the background while you continue to listen to your music, browse your photo gallery or do whatever you’d like on your device. If you’d like, you can even schedule regular, incremental backups so that these occur on a set time frame that you set up. You can also set up different backup schedules for different applications.
Many people have multiple devices—either for themselves or among family members. If this is the case for you, truBackup can easily backup more than one device simultaneously. Further, scheduled backups can be done on multiple devices as well.
Multi-language support and capabilities are not available. This can be seen as a significant negative, as competing apps in the data storage space due have this function.
Also, the app is rarely updated. In a world filled with innovation and improvement…updates should be frequent.
The app is highly useful, functional and fast, but one cannot back up calendars, dictionaries or call logs with it. This can be a huge negative for people who rely heavily on their phone for calendar and call needs.
truBackup only offers 2.9MB of storage. Hopefully this is something that will be improved over time, as customers may need more storage availability.
