The Hazelden Betty Ford Foundation was formed in 2014 by the merger of the Hazelden Foundation and the Betty Ford Center. With an extensive history of working together as individual organizations, the merger created an extensive network to help those struggling with addiction using the Twelve Step model. The organization runs the largest publishing house for recovery materials and an accredited graduate program on addiction studies.

- Insurance Exclusions by Location
- Travel Required for Specialized Programs
Insurance Exclusions by Location
As might be expected, there are some locations that do not accept all insurance plans. In fact, most locations accept some of the insurance plans. The Hazelden Betty Ford Foundation works very diligently to assist as many people as possible to overcome addictions and offers prospective clients the option to coordinate care with a Care Navigator by phone.
Travel Required for Specialized Programs
For those with more specialized treatment needs, there may not be a program near them. This is not necessarily a new situation, but may add additional financial drain to an already expensive treatment program. Many feel that the benefits of quality treatment outweigh the inconvenience for travel and treatment.
Approved Insurance Providers
The Hazelden Betty Ford Foundation works with many insurance providers. The Hazelden Betty Ford Foundation recommends that interested parties contact their insurer to determine if coverage for alcohol rehabilitation is a covered treatment with their plan. Prospective clients should note that not all locations accept all insurance, so they should be specific with their insurer when asking about their coverage. The Foundation has a comprehensive listing of the insurance plans that it accepts on its website:
