Delta Airlines is one of the largest American airlines and is headquartered at Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport. It has one of the largest network hubs in the world and flies to over 325 destinations in 64 different countries. What began as Huff Daland Dusters, a crop dusting service, later became Delta Air Services with passenger flights starting in June 1929.
2013 saw Delta become the world's largest airline in terms of scheduled passengers, and the second largest in terms of revenue passenger-kilometers.
The company has worked extensively to make sure that customers have perks on most (if not all) planes in its fleet.
Passengers in the wide-bodied Boeing 766 are guaranteed to have wireless Internet available. Other models of planes may have Wi-Fi, but this feature has to be added to some planes (especially the fleet of Airbus and smaller narrow-bodied models).
Delta Sky Magazine, which is published by MSP Communications offers customers a wide variety of items to be perused in-flight.
Keep reading for pros and cons, plus Delta reviews from real customers.
There is a lot to like about Delta's SkyMiles rewards program. It is one of the only airlines in the industry to not let its customers' frequent flier miles expire. This perk for returning customers provides the potential for significant value over time.
Additional perks that come with being a SkyMiles member include flight upgrades, vacation packages, and other amenities.
There are no blackout dates for Delta's SkyMiles program.
Transparency is an important component of Delta's packages. Their travel insurance (offered through Allianz) is straightforward, easy-to-understand, and is perfect for nearly every passenger.
Another positive aspect of flying with Delta is that you are able to pay for a flight with sources of credit other than a credit card. Another payment option that could be used, for example, is Bill Me Later.
Delta has a wide array of destinations available for its clients. Their network of partners makes it easy for customers to get anywhere in the United States.
In some states, it was also possible to get to smaller cities through some of their partners. For example, we found that Moab, UT (a popular tourist spot) has scheduled service with SkyWest and Delta.
Another thing that separates Delta from their competition is their fleet of planes. Several Airbus and Boeing models are used in its wide-bodied fleet, and come with Wi-Fi, LCD displays (as of 2012), and AC power for laptops (on some planes).
Many narrow-bodied planes, mainly used for smaller connecting flights, also have Wi-Fi and other entertainment options available for customers.
The carrier has an extensive meal service for its flights, and any flight over six hours has a complimentary meal.
There is a wide variety of beverages available on flights. Alcoholic beverages include wine, beer, and some other liquor varieties that vary in price based upon the flight.
Also, all non-alcoholic beverages (including soda and coffee) are free.
A customer service experience with Delta is most likely to be positive. The website is filled with information that potential fliers may ask. It is simple to contact customer support via Domestic Flight Booking service number (800-221-1212), to ask specific questions about prices for purchasing a ticket. This is also a great place, along with their website, to get information about travel insurance.
As per Flightstats.com, Delta flights arrive on-time roughly 87% of the time. Compared to other top airlines, this is very competitive.
Let's face it; airlines can have a lot of problems when it comes to baggage. The largest complaints with Delta seems to stem from checked baggage fees. Some customers complained about the second checked baggage fee of $35. When customers take a carry-on that should be checked, some became offended at the complimentary free baggage check after check-in.
Going overseas, some customers had issues with the economy upgrade perks to their ticket. When the economy comfort perks had been "overbooked," customers were issued a refund, but often complained at not getting the experience that they had originally paid for.
Overall, these complaints were to be expected when flying in general, and most customers were pleased with their Delta experience.
my favorite airline ever!I basically refuse to fly anyone other than delta. The service is always outstanding, and i love that they have little TV's hooked into every seat so i'm never bored during the flight.
It was so easy working with Delta Airlines. I was able to get to my destination at a great price and was well taken care of. The flight attendants were very helpful and patient. I will be choosing Delta again in the future.

I've flown delta a couple times and I had a very great experience with them. They have really yummy snacks, especially the cookies. 10/10 recommend
Delta is my favorite airline because of the way they treat you. They are always kind and willing to help. They also have nice products on flight.
I fly with Delta usually every time I'm traveling. I never have any trouble when I'm traveling with them. They have decent snacks and drinks and they always have recent movies to watch on the flight.
I’ve flown delta since I can remember and I’ve always had a pleasant experience. Everyone is always polite and willing to work with customers if you have questions or concerns. It’s easy to contact customer service
very good customer service! needed to make last minute changes to my flight and they were able to help with no problems
usually the cheaper of the airlines, and for basic travel thats fine. But like all other airlines, expect no leg room, and get out your wallet if you need any kind of extras.
if i could leave a negative review i would would never use this airline ever again there completely over crowded and over priced the customer service is ok but honestly could use so work the flight attendant came off too busy to be bothered with
Delta has good customer service. However, It is very expensive. You do get snacks on the flight though but it is expensive.
Everytime I flew on Delta, I enjoyed myself. The staff was always pleasant and they offered biscoff cookies which I absolutely adored. The plane itself was roomy (for a plane).
Round trip fro Dulles to Orlando. Plain arrived and departed on time. Friendly staff, not the best snacks.
USually timely with the flights. More expensive than some of the other airlines out there. Checking two bags will cost 70$ extra each way. So roundtrip, checking luggage ALONE is 140$! Very pricey. Of course, you can always bring just one personal item, but that's literally restrictive for going out of town. There is now a similar option for no assigned seating (similar to Southwest's "wanna Get Away" program). The downside, of course, is the baggage pricing. I've also noticed a lot of the flights that are non direct, but cost more! I try to avoid as best as possible.
We love Delta - we just used our frequent flyer points to book a trip to Hawaii for Christmas! The airline website was easy to use and I was able to transfer my points to buy tickets for my grandchildren as well. The only thing I didn't like was when I found a really cheap airfare on a competing airline for the same dates I was going and was going to have my points refunded, but there was a significant fee charged to do this.
Whenever I fly, I fly Delta. The planes are always in great condition. My flights are comfortable.
Delta Airlines was great when I flew with them. Their flight attendants were very nice and made us all feel at home.
I have flown many times with Delta. I have found the flight attendants to be kind and helpful. The great majority of the time my flights have been on time.
The flight attendants were nice, each seat has a tv with a really good selection on movies,
I really like delta the people are always super nice who help you and are very useful!
The flight attendants were very nice and kid friendly. I really liked the inflight movies. There were lots of options. It was very comfortable seating and was easy to get comfortable.
I have flown Delta numerous times for work related trips. I have always been pleased with the customer service, the value for my money and the ease of booking my flight online.
perfect for flights anywhere, all the attendants were so kind and patient, the prices were nice and the flight went very smooth, definitely will fly with them again
Delta Airlines has good customer service and I feel like they are usually a good price for what they offer. If we could choose to fly with anyone usually it's Delta.

Informative staff, kind and willing to help. Great with those with special needs.
Delta is a Great flight association, because they have good seats good flight attendants and the pilot give us pants after we were done with our flight people are nice and the workers are courteous and kind delta is a great company
Of the regular airlines (not discount), Delta is one of the best. We often find decent fares through them, and they have lots of flights available, although that might be because our closest airport is one of their hubs. We end up using them more than any other airline. They seem to be a little more reliable and more flier-friendly than most of the other large airlines, although they have cut services and space along with everyone else.
Horrible seating high priced tickets...they have tried to save money by putting more people on an already packed plane while jacking up the price. The only thing great about Delta are the people that work for them.
Like Delta with their assigned seats compared to Southwest. They go to many destinations and it’s easy to get to. Sometimes their helpfulness and customer service lacks a bit
Every time I fly somewhere, I always try to get Delta! The flight crew is always very kind! One time I was coming back from Ghana and wasn’t feeling well. The flight attendant got me the food and blankets I needed! I really appreciated it. Also, when coming back from New York City, I was able to watch live television! Like who doesn’t want to watch their favorite show on TV during a flight?
Delta is our favorite airline. We love how helpful the employees are, and we love to earn miles each time we fly. We've been able to use those miles to help purchase flights, and it is always so nice when we have enough miles saved up to do that!
Delta is by far the best airline I've ever flown, the staff is extremely kind and patient. I would recommend this airline over any other.
Great airline with lots of routes. Never really had a bad experience with them.
Delta is my all time favorite airline for cross continental flying. Always on time, customer service is fantastic and I love to see the little plane flying on the screen behind the seats that shows where we are located at any moment and how far we have left to go.
I love Delta Airlines! It is my preferred airline carrier. My experiences have always been positive when flying on Delta. Good customer service, friendly flight attendants, on-time arrivals and minimal delays.
They fly to so many places and so many times, it's nice to have so many options!! You always know you'll get wonderful service!!
Delta is my preferred airlines. I fly it when my budget allows. It's more expensive than other airlines, so when I'm limited on budget, I choose to fly other airlines. It helps that I live near a Delta hub, so there are a lot of flight options.
The airplanes and very modern and nice. I love the flight attendants and the service is incredibly good. When I lost my luggage they helped me find it within an hour.
They shouldn't tell you certain sized bags can be carried on (given dimensions on line) and then make you check them plane-side and then throw them around so your stuff inside gets damaged.
They need nicer, more personable flight attendants infirst class. They also need to allow more than 2 alcoholic beverages in first class. For GOD sake, I am paying a premium for the seat. The least they could do is offer as many cocktails as I want.
At first, i heard that Delta wasn't good enough.. When I found out about my flight cancelled due to the snow.. they helped me to get the best as possible to get on the flight and I explain my deaf access.. Afterward, they gave me some mileage credit and they helped deaf people afterward.. Deaf Access is important to me and to deaf community. I often go on flight with them because they treat me good now.
Our favorite thing about Delta is that the flights generally run on time and we are able to make our connections without many problems. The planes are sometimes older leg space is sparse, but being able to rely on a flight running on time makes us want to fly Delta whenever possible.

Flights always go fast. Lots of flights around Salt Lake City. Easy boarding and exiting. Always are the first to welcome me to a new state with a warm smile.
The Biscoff cookies are the best! And that’s why Delta is my favorite. I know that’s dumb but it’s true. They also tend to have more direct flights than other airlines which is definitely a plus.
Delta Airlines made our flying experience wonderful. We flew from California to Boston on three different flights without a hitch. Would definitely choose Delta again.
We took Delta Airlines (for the first time) from California to Boston. Three flights each way, all of them on time. Customer service exceeded our expectations.
Delta really provides the best care over many other airlines. The really show that they value you as a customer and try their best to satisfy your needs! They also have super comfy seats and yummy food!
Delta gave me a nice flight to Washington last year. I was comfortable the whole way, and the flight attendants we're very kind, and they had great food too.
Delta has provided me with some very nice flights. I have always been comfortable, and I have never had any trouble buying them on their website.
Lovely airlines. More often than not friendly staff. Quite reliable as far as schedule is concerned
I travel a lot for work and whenever I can, I chose Delta. It's always on time, reliable, has outlets, good entertainment.
