Cofounders Chad DiNenna and Andy Laats started Nixon as a boutique line of watches sold exclusively at board sports and fashion retailers. Now the company sells watches, bags, leather goods, and accessories.
Nixon works with a diverse group of athletes, musicians, makers, artists, and activists worldwide to create truly unique and stylized products.
Many people don't know about Nixon because the company designs its products with surfers in mind. Because of this, its fitness watches generally include special features such as being pre-programmed with tide information for over 500 beaches, basic tide (high/low) functionality, chronograph, and a countdown timer.
However, you don't have to be a surfer to enjoy these features. If you swim, hike, wakeboard, sail, raft, dive, or participate in any sport that includes water, these watches make a great addition to your gear. Not only can they handle being in the water, but the watch bands are made of ultra-soft silicone, so they grip your skin but are comfortable (no more having your watch slip up and down your arm).
If you want, you can finance your watch with Afterpay. This allows you to make four equal payments that are paid every two weeks (plus there is zero interest and no fees).
Currently, Afterpay is only available to customers with a U.S. billing address and U.S. phone number.
Nixon offers a limited warranty of defects in materials and workmanship for two years after the date of purchase from an authorized Nixon dealer.
If you want to make a return, your product must be unused, unworn, and in original packaging with all the tags attached. This is a bit frustrating for customers since it doesn't allow you to try on the watch, see if you like the size, color, shape, etc.
Regarding the warranty, Nixon does not cover normal wear and tear, batteries, crystal, watch case, strap, bracelet, loss, or theft.
If you open the case back, push the buttons underwater, forget to screw down or push in the crown (exposing your watch to moisture), your warranty is voided.
Also, you will need proof of purchase for all warranty claims and service requests. Nixon will not accept a warranty claim or repair request if a watch has evidence of excessive wear or misuse.
Unfortunately, Nixon doesn't have the most variety when it comes to its fitness watches. When you search for a men's fitness watch, only 11 results pop up (and only 6 results for women). While the company does specialize in other watch styles, it would be nice if there were a few more options for customers to choose from.
